Edition: Paperback
Price: £22.99

5.0 out of 5 stars A brilliant resource boasting a wealth of creative ideas!, 3 May 2010
This book is a 'must have' for all practitioners working with children affected through divorce/separation. It offers a clear rationale, guidelines for practitioners working within this field, which prove beneficial, relevant and useful. The book includes a theoretical overview of the impact of divorce/separation on children which underpins the overall purpose of the book and it's underlying principles.

The book is divided into digestable sections of creative intervention according to the therapeutic aim, providing a wealth of creative activities for: engagement and assessment, addressing divorce issues, processing emotional and behavioural reactions, facilitating coping and enhancing self-esteem, group sessions and family sessions. Each activity is explained in detail for ease of use and the book also contains some very useful photocopiable resources for use by the client which complement specific activities.

The book layout allows for quick and easy referencing - the page entitled 'activities at a glance' is a real time-saver which enables the practitioner to easily select the appropriate intervention specific to the client's need.

Both as a teacher and play therapist I found this book an excellent practical resource, packed full of imaginative and inspiring ideas.
