KES A2510-2 Bathroom Lavatory Double Bathroom Shelf Towel Rack Wall Mount, Brushed Stainless Steel
KES A2510-2 Bathroom Lavatory Double Bathroom Shelf Towel Rack Wall Mount, Brushed Stainless Steel

Price: £115.00

5.0 out of 5 stars Does exactly what I needed, 14 Jan. 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
With three dogs to walk in the wet and the mud, we need space to dry everything after a dog walk. Especially with the recent rain! As we had just one small (1 meter wide) single radiator that's always laden with wet dog towels and damp boots that are precariously perched, everything took forever to dry. Not the most pleasant smell. As a result, we decided that we needed something that would improve the situation and started looking at radiator shelves.

There were a few challenges:

1) finding something that could act as a shelf to put objects on (eg. boots), but still hold at least two dog towels and allow air to circulate
2) as the gap between the top of the radiator and a window ledge was only about 20cm it meant that we had to find a suitable shelf with a single fixing point
3) anything hanging down had to be at least 10cm out from the wall to avoid the single radiator and give space to fit a towel over.
4) it had to be sturdy and rust resistant as it's going to be subjected to a much tougher life than in the average bathroom
5) it has to look reasonably good as we pass it every day

After a lot of searches, we came across this KES product. It wasn't the cheapest, there were no reviews (when we looked) and while nervous about how solid the fix into the wall would be, it seemed to fit the bill so we took a risk and went for it

Product arrived promptly and looks as good as the photo. The brushed effect should hide the small scratches and marks of everyday use. Since ordering I've seen another review that questions whether it's "stainless steel" or "chrome". Only time will tell if it rusts and if it does I'll update this review.

It was easy to install. I'm certainly no expert on DIY and with a little fiddling with drills, screwdrivers and a spirit level it was up. Doing it myself took about 25-30 mins, but if you're a bit better at DIY and had all the gear to hand you could probably do it in around 15 mins. I did end up replacing the screws and wall plugs with slightly heavier duty options, but I find I do that with most wall mounted items as the screws provided rarely look up to the task. The end result is a nice solid fit. I wouldn't jump on it, but there is no movement when you put a towel on or remove it, so concerns on how solid it would be with just one fixing point were unfounded.

The end result is that we can fit three towels and a couple of pairs of boots on the rack (see photos to get a feel). This still allows the air to circulate and everything drys much, much quicker. As a result, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this.

One minor criticism of the description on this (and other similar towel rails) is that while other dimensions are mentioned, the distance of the hanging rail from the wall is not clearly stated. As mentioned earlier, as this was fitted just above the radiator, this was important to ensure the hanging rail extended over the radiator and allowed us to use it. We had to judge by eye from the images and the depth mentioned which made us write off a number of alternatives which looked too short. For info, this is over the 10cm minimum we needed and fine for a single radiator, though a double radiator might be a little tight and if you need a more accurate figure ask and I will measure properly.

Funky Veg Kit by Plant Theatre - 5 Extraordinary Vegetables to Grow
Funky Veg Kit by Plant Theatre - 5 Extraordinary Vegetables to Grow
Price: £11.99

5.0 out of 5 stars What do you buy the gardener that has everything? The Funky Veg Kit!, 20 Nov. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
It's definitely a gimmick, but the packaging is modern and has a premium look/feel. The idea of purple carrots alone is worth the money and it brought a smile when it was unwrapped.

We're yet to grow them, so the review is only partly complete, but once we do I'll feed back on the growing/taste parts.

As a small gift though - perfect!

4.0 out of 5 stars The best bee gloves I've ever owned, but watch your wrists, 18 Nov. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The gloves themselves are a nice close fit, very supple, comfortable, thick enough to protect from the bee's stings, but thin enough to be able to feel through., This allows you to be extremely dexterous when you're doing anything in/around your hive(s). So far, these are by far the best bee gloves I've owned in around 10 years of beekeeping.

Having said that, they let themselves down with the material from the wrist up. This is too thin. Where the material goes over the bee suit, you're fine, but there is a small gap between where the goat skin ends and the bee suit starts. Most of the time it's not a problem as it's not in contact with the skin, so you have a natural gap, but every now and then you move your hand in such a way that the material touches the skin and if there happens to be a bee stinging through the material at that point - it will get you. It's happened twice to me on the inside of the wrist and because it's tender skin, it can get extremely itchy for a few days. I've got round it by wearing a cheap wrist support under the gloves. You don't need much material, but you do need a little more protection here.

This would be a definite 5-star product if either the goat skin went up another inch or two further, or if the material around the wrist was a little thicker. Having said that, with a little extra home made wrist protection and they're still incredibly good bee gloves and I'd highly recommend them.

5.0 out of 5 stars I can't recommend them highly enough., 18 Nov. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I did an unfit version of the three peaks challenge (Snowdon, Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis) over three days rather than two and had dodgy knees going into it. Most knee supports weren't substantial enough or seemed to have too much neoprene material for the walking I'd be doing so I had a look for alternatives and stumbled onto these and bought one for each knee.

The lower the straps fits comfortably under the knee itself and seems to have a fairly solid tube in there which offered a surprising amount of support. This could be tightened or loosened easily to adjust the tension.

The back of the strap seems to be a flexible, but breathable material so even with all the walking, they never got too sweaty or uncomfortable. In addition, they dried out on the drive between mountains so no issues of putting on a damp support, even after an absolute soaking going up Snowdon.

The end result was knees that survived climbing over 3,400m and walking well over 20 miles of uneven ground without further injury!

The only criticism is superficial - the logo. To wear them comfortably in shorts (or to a lesser extent in trousers) you have to have the tabs sticking outwards otherwise they can rub the inside of your other leg. As there doesn't appear to be a left leg or right leg version, this means you have to put one on upside down. Fine if you're wearing trousers, but if you're wearing shorts you do look a bit of a Muppet with the logo on upside down (as you can see by the photo on a break coming down Scafell Pike). Having said that, if you're concerned about your looks, you probably shouldn't be wearing shorts with them anyway.

Overall, they were comfortable and effective. Well worth the money. I can't recommend them highly enough.

5.0 out of 5 stars A perfect perch to keep your cat warm in the cold winter night ahead, 4 Nov. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Bought two as we enter the winter period and wanted a design that fitted both wider radiators and narrow radiators as we have a mix in the house.

The fit is solid on both styles of radiators and judging by the cats reaction - comfortable (see photo).

The material is also removable from the frame by unzipping it so it can be washed, though it looks quite a snug fit so may be a little bit tricky.

If I had to be picky it appears to be quite wide, but not so deep. Having said that, our cats curl up rather than sprawl so they don't have an issue with that.

3.0 out of 5 stars May be fine for very small holes or I may have been using it wrong, but..., 9 Oct. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I needed something to fix a sit on lawn mower tyre which had a large thorn/small nail in, but had since come out, so selected this as a good value for money option (especially compared to a new tyre).

It was easy to fill the tyre with and the pressure from the container pushed all the contents in. The problem was that the pressure just kept pushing the liquid through what looked like a very small hole without actually sealing it. The end result was the trye went flat again.

I may have been doing something wrong, but I followed the instructions as best I could so...

As a result, it's fine for a very small hole, but anything more and I'd look for an alternative. I certainly would never rely on it for my car...

HIGH PEAK Shower tent AQUADOME with roof window height 2m

5.0 out of 5 stars A great shower/loo tent, 9 Oct. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Having bought a fantastic porta loo (Thetford Porta Porti Qube 365 92817 Camping Toilet I needed a tent to house it in. After a bit of hunting I chose this one and while designed as a shower tent, it was perfect.

Light and portable. Easy to set up/put away. Felt solid when up and stood up to a reasonable breeze without any problem. Good height/width so plenty of space and no claustrophobic feeling. Nice 'pocket' for toilet paper/hand wash. The roof window sounds a gimmic, but actually lets in enough light (along with the material) to see what you're doing...so to speak. The tent material is thin and you can see vague shadows, but not revealing in any way.

Overall, highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Turns camping into "glamping", 9 Oct. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The call of nature is always one of camping's most awkward moments. If you want to "glamp" instead of "camp", this is a must have!

The product quality is great. It's pretty light to transport (though quite bulky as you would expect). It all slots together easily and doesn't feel as though it will collapse at any moment. It's easy to set up (though a funnel for pouring water into the reservoir would help). It's comfortable to sit on. It has a simple and effective flush mechanism. It doesn't release smells into the air (especially when you use the recommended chemicals). Most importantly, it's easy to empty out and clean!

We had a camping party for my daughters birthday in the fields away from the house and it saved all the blushes. More than that, it became a feature of the party with them all gathered round admiring it. So there, not just functional, but a talking piece too!

As a result, I love it to the extent that I'd seriously consider carrying on more serious expeditions in place of food, water, sleeping bag, tent, etc. Well maybe not, but for any other more gentle camping, it is brilliant!!!!

The one thing you should also consider is a tent such as HIGH PEAK Shower tent AQUADOME with roof window height 2m.

Jaws [DVD] [1975]

5.0 out of 5 stars The movie that defined a generation's attitude to the sea and sharks that you have to watch just for that reason!, 8 Oct. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Jaws [DVD] [1975] (DVD)
The best Jaws movie that defined a generation's attitude to the sea and sharks that's only slowly changing for the better after 40 years.

Unsurprisingly the special effects look tired now compared to modern CGI, but it changes the tone of the movie (especially if you're watching it with your cynical 13 year old daughter) and along with hairstyles, clothes, acting, etc adds some great comedy value instead.

Having said that it was a series of movies that still have me humming the theme tune whenever I step into the sea (or even rivers or lakes for some bizarre reason).
Quality wise it's fine. The picture was clear (though the colours were a little pale) and sound quality okay.

A classic film of its time and well worth watching again, even if it will be more amusing than scary now.

Its a DVD of Jaws movies with story lines that get less and less credible as they go on. Having said that it was a series of movies that still have me humming the theme tune whenever I step into the sea (or even rivers or lakes for some bizarre reason).
