3.0 out of 5 stars A cross between really good and really piss poor moments, 6 May 2014

Violence continuum is good in some ways and flipping aweful in others I can't quite tell if it is a serious record or somekind of hilarious parody type thing Especially after watching the videos, there are some very good really thrash metal groove metal songs on the album but there is a some also really piss poor attempts particularly in the vocal department I dunno if it was obviously a parody of some kind it would be a four star but because it is totally unclear as to wether it is tongue in cheek or not I can't decided there are some a kick ass grooves and riffs though in places

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant Lively Fun, 16 April 2014
25 tracks of Brilliant lively saxophone fun on one really long cd with 25 tracks on it that run in to each others it makes for an exceelent album With lots of famous names playing on the sessions too like Max Roach, The Music is fantastic, and lively. There is lots of playful banter between the musicians (musical banter) and the drumming is exceptional as is the bass Well all the instruments are. Charlie Parker is awesome It is a good introduction to Charlie Parker

4.0 out of 5 stars Masterpiece ?, 23 Mar. 2014

This album is an almost masterpiece it opens up with the 20 minute epic change which winds its way through countless mazes of musical wizardry and fun it then sidewinds in to the shorter but equally wonderous title song and third song before turning in to the four part suit Illusion and Reality which is an expertly crafted piece of music with tornados of change and harmonious guitar and keyboard moments and quality vocals. The production of the album is filled with a sense of space and the guitars are a bit thing as are the drums perhaps a little bit quite However the music is still sublime.
The music on change the opening 20 minute song is dramatic in its changes ranging from dream theater esque metal guitar work to more Jazzy and free sections with strong powerful bass lines and a nice bass tone too. Some of the vocals are also reminiscent of Pink Floyd too though the overall sound of The album and magic pie in general is fairly unique. the album is very long clocking in at almost and entire cd length of 80 minutes but it oes by very fast because the music is so enjoyable and well written and engaging too

4.0 out of 5 stars Finally got this album, 23 Mar. 2014
This review is from: The Crusade (Audio CD)
I finally got this album I was off put by people saying it wasn't very good I have to say I don't totally agree with them it is very different from the albums that came before but I don't think it is terrible there are a few dodgy things in it like non of the songs or riffs are especially catchy or memorable, The vocals are a bit subpar and there is a few rubbish woooaahhhs in it BUt other than that it is a good album. The drumming seems rather powerful on this album as do the guitars and there seems to be more Bass noodling on this album too. Very different from the last album it is a solid metal album but it is nothing special and it should have been better and less cheesey

Kind Of Blue
Kind Of Blue

4.0 out of 5 stars My first forays in to jazz, 21 Mar. 2014
This review is from: Kind Of Blue (Audio CD)
I have recently decided to get in to jazz and the only two Artists I knew were, John Coltrane and Miles Davis so on my birthday I bought a collection of recommended albums by these two artists including Kind of Blue I am a very open minded music collector and my recent Jazz exploration has been rather exciting, I find Kind of Blue to be tasteful and enjoyable to listen to and quite calming with smooth sounding bass and Soft but lively trumpet and relaxing drums. The music is very trumpet led as is to be expected but the other instruments get their time to shine too with deep bass double bass sounding very rumbly through my speakers and just generally being nice and interesting. The Whole album is about 40 minutes long so it is not too long either it was definatley a good first buy for jazz Now I have to listen to some more of my new jazz records

5.0 out of 5 stars Cockroach King of Kings, 25 Feb. 2014
This review is from: The Mountain (Audio CD)
The Mountain is a brilliant album of mixtures of fantastic ideas and refreshing a genre that was beginning to get a bit stale, The band have thrown themselves in to this project with Lavish arrangements and Everything from Metally guitar to Barber Shop Quartet. Jazz Moog solos and Brilliantly tasty bass guitar lines all the way through on the six string bass wonder The drums are energetic and fun to listen to as well and the vocals are performed with Vigor and delicacy when required, The band is a very dynamic and eclectic band with some really magnificent performances on this album it really does require a listening to. It is something special not only is all the above in the album but the album is also catchy and memerable All in all a future classic album no doubt get it on vinyl with the cd if you can it even better then
