Praise fo the HP35S, 30 Nov 2009
I paid £210 for the first HP35 in 1972 when neither I nor anyone else had ever seen a pocket calculator, let alone a scientific one. It took 12 weeks to arrive by which time I was wondering what had happened to my money ( which I sent off to Hewlett-Packard on trust on day one!). However the original HP35 was fantastic and since I was designing an aircraft engine at the time, it paid for itself in the first couple of weeks. In the end it was superseded by the HP11C, of which I had 2, then the HP32S which was really good, of which I had 1, then the HP33S which was actually disappointing with very stiff buttons which could fail to register. But the HP35S is undoubtedly the best so far in the true tradition of Hewlett-Packard Scientific Calculators. I'm still designing engines and use it all the time.
I highly recommend it.
