4.0 out of 5 stars Atmospheric!, 4 Sep 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I have just finished this for my book group, and i have to say that I was very pleasantly surprised by this novel! I must admit that I was not particularly looking forward to reading this, based on the books blurb, but how wrong I was! I was hooked pretty much straight away. I really love Jenny's writing style and the entire novel is just so descriptive and atmospheric. I do think it slightly tailed off somewhat towards the end, but i will definitely look out for the next book from this author x

1.0 out of 5 stars Avoid!, 4 Sep 2014
Buyer be very aware!! This in NOT an Addis product as shown, but a cheap version which is actually 10cms (61cms) longer than stated. Maybe not an issue for some, but i bought this based on the brand and size. Really annoyed, and i now have the hassle of returning this tat that came (badly) wrapped in a black bin bag. Sort out these rogue sellers, Amazon!

5.0 out of 5 stars fabulous as always, 19 April 2014

Paige Toon is my absoloutely most favourite author ever. I have read all her books in order and always wait impatiently for her next book. This was such an amazing read, a great continuation of the Johnny and Meg story and i can't wait for more. I don't know how she does it, but her books just totally draw you in, the characters are so vivid and likeable that I am always left feeling sad when I finish one of her book as I know I have a while to wait for the next one. Paige Toon never disappoints and always delivers incredible stories. Having read some utter rubbish recently, it reminds me how good these books really are. You just have to read them all x

1.0 out of 5 stars Can't take anymore, 19 April 2014

Ok, so I bought this based on how much I loved 'You had me at hello'. Big mistake. Huge. I found the writing so agressive, it made Anna quite unlikeable. I have only recently given up on a few books, as I have decided that life is just far too short to waste time reading books that you are just not enjoying. I think this says a lot for the quality of stuff getting published these days. In fact, I reckon this only got published on the back of her previous novel. It's hard to believe it's the same author. Really badly written, horrible characters and struggling for any real story x

I loved this book and found it very hard to put down. The writing style flows easily and you really get drawn into the characters. I was actually a bit sad when I finished it. I will definitely read more from this new author. So much better that a lot of the other contrived rubbish I seem to have read recently. Brilliant x

4.0 out of 5 stars Magical, 4 May 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I read this for my book group and was pleasantly surprised. The book is very descriptive and your really get drawn in to the magical world of the night circus. I did get a tad bored toward the end, I do think it lost its way a bit and as a group, they're really is not a lot to talk about and we were all left wondering what the point of it actually was. I still enjoyed the book and fancy a visit to a circus just like it x

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed, 4 May 2013

The first thing to say about this toy is that it is not actually the Turbo Twister, but an imitation product. I had seen the original in Hamleys and thought this would be the same. The price should have been a red flag to this, however my son loves it and a few months on it is still working so I won't complain too much just yet! A very misleading description nonetheless.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor quality, 4 May 2013

Well, first of all these threads took 3 weeks to arrive which is not really the time scale I've come to expect of Amazon and their sellers. When they eventually arrived, my first impression was that they looked really cheap as they were on cardboard reels which were all bent, and it looked like there were some crumbs under the cellophane wrapper. I have just used one, and I really doubt they're polyester - once you cut the end it frays and is hard to thread the needle. They just feel weak compared other threads I've used. I'm not really sure what I expected for the money, and as someone else pointed out, they' re not suitable for use on a machine. I will definitely be sticking with Gutterman or Coats in the future.

1.0 out of 5 stars Utter rubbish, 28 Sep 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Well, what can I say about this book? I'm just over half way through and trust me when I say, it's been a real struggle to get this far. I can't bear the writing style. The journal type monologue is repetitive, self-indulgent and not even interesting. As someone else pointed out, none of the characters are likelable at all, so it's hard to find empathy for any of them. The slightly crazy Sallleee is doing my head in (as is the overuse of brackets on each page). Yes, I know I should give this up as I was sorely tempted to at only 13% in, but I am reading this for my book group. I'm unsure of book group etiquette but I suppose if I don't finish it, I won't be able to contribute to a full discussion on it. Even if it's only to reiterate just how much I have despised every single sentence of it. I will not be looking for any futher titles from this author - I'm actually amazed this garbage got published at all x
