5.0 out of 5 stars Classic presentation of the Catholic Faith, 29 Mar 2013

The Summa Theologica is too hefty to carry around, but this Kindle version makes it possible. It is a good translation, with a well thought out transition to the Kindle format, with a useful article-by-article contents section, allowing you to go straight to the section you want. The text is also clear, crisp and easy to read.
There is nothing to really complain about with this Kindle book, except that the text itself is a difficult read with many philosophical concepts which are simply assumed.
Recommended to all those studying Medieval Philosophy and Theology, and those who wish to really get to grips with the thought of Thomas Aquinas. It is a work of sheer genius and a classic of western Christian thought which has stood the test of time.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good scholarship made easily accessible, 29 Mar 2013

The Cambridge Companion series are generally high quality and this one is no exception. Key topics in St. Augustine's thought are discussed by a range of scholars and a full bibliography is included. This Kindle edition has an easy access contents page (as you would expect) so you can zip straight to the chapter you want. One disappointment with this Kindle version is that the 'scanning' process that has been used to transfer the published text into electronic format has left a certain 'vagueness' in the print, like you sometimes get after multiple photocopies from an original document. However, this doesn't seriously affect one's ability to read the text. The Kindle version is also good value compared whith what you'd pay for the paper book.

2.0 out of 5 stars Difficult to search, 13 Mar 2013

I hoped that this dictionary would be a quick alternative to an ordinary French-English dictionary, but I find it frustrating to use. There is a cover page which offers the feature of searchnig for words, but this doesn't work. In fact you cannot search for an individual word except by 'guessing' where to plunge into the text using the clumsy progress bar at the foot of the page. But even your best guess tends to be many pages away from the word you are looking for, so you end up swiping through the pages manually to get there. I am sure this takes at least four times as long to find a word than with a conventional print dictionary.

3.0 out of 5 stars Easily chipped, 13 Mar 2013

I bought this sleeker kindle case as an alternative to the rather bulky one I had previously bought in a hurry. I like the styling of this one and the flip down screen cover which easily stays in place. The rigid shell casing for the kindle is snug and durable enough to protect it. But the finish of the shell is easily chippped when carry it around in my bag and this is disappointing. I expected it to be tougher.
