3.0 out of 5 stars Good but no cigar!!, 28 Sep 2014
It seems that I have been unlucky with this tv as although initially it was quite impressive(certainly not mind blowing however)it developed a tuner fault after only a week or so whereby the sd picture was reminiscent in picture quality of an old ep video -poorly defined and fuzzy.Bearing in mind the attractive spider shaped stand is large and allows the set to swivel the overall stability is poor and not impressed with the plasticky edge finish.
In terms of picture quality , even before it developed the tuner fault this tv (which apparently has direct leds rather than the less costly edge variety)lacked in contrast compared to a Sony we have in the bedroom. It must be said however that the blacks are good.
The smart Tv functions are very good but the remotes are not!!
The larger of the 2 remotes is too small and fiddly-the new fangled smart remote which throws a beam onto the tv is difficult to control precisely and after a dram or two ends up like trying to control a table tennis ball-
I am returning this tv and despite the faults that have occurred which can happen to anyone(luck of the draw)I would not replace with similar and therefore can not recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars great device, 25 Mar 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This was a 2nd purchase of this item for a friend -Found -as I did that we had no further problems with unwanted visitors.
The bottom line is that if rodents had already found a route into your property in times past then this device will stop or discourage further incursions.Unless it's my imagination we do not have as many flying insects -particularly wasps -getting -or wanting to get in through open patio doors etc in summer months as we used to.Just pop it into a socket (behind a microwave -say) where the continual flashing light will not annoy you! Worth every penny!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Good little mower but a few issues, 11 Mar 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I bought this after returning (good Amazon service)Rotak 34R as the handles (despite the description) didn't fold.
The handles on this one fold a treat and incorporate a spigot to allow them to fold without unscrewing altogether -well thought out!
Fits well into a 3'x2' garden storage unit which is a better proposition than rooting around in and out of a shed!
The -albeit noisy- motor attacks grass with aplomb(1st cut of the season which always difficult)and does not stall or stutter like some machines.Like most rotaries it clogs up readily when the grass is damp(which is often)at the neck feeding into the grass box.
As far as German engineering is concerned the adjustment for the cutting depth involves manually relocating a steel spindle in the tails of an 'E' plate -to do this you have to turn the machine upside down!! -
The grass box is adequate but the plastic is a bit thin and may not be long lived.
Overall good performance and quite reasonable value for money but design and construction issues let it down.

5.0 out of 5 stars As good as it gets!, 27 Feb 2014
I have owned more expensive tv's than this(including top-end plasmas) but the picture quality and ease of use of the Sony more than equals them.Particularly impressed with black intensity and lack of clouding or banding effects which are an issue with many edge lit led tv's. The sound is acceptable generally and better than average for ultra thin screens but as speakers are at the back and rear facing can sound a little muddy with some content -sound bar is not an option as this model sits low on a flat surface and the remote sensor would be obstructed. If a bluray fan better to invest in a hdmi amplifiier(which will answer the issue of only 2 hdmi outputs as well)
I was a little unsure about the stand initially as there is no swivel facility but tv is so light(yet stable)that it is convenient just to lift from bottom corner to adjust viewing angle. There is relatively little drop off in picture intensity from sides anyway so may not bother many folk. Although 50" screen this tv does not look any bigger than a 47" owing to the very thin surrounds and consequently will not dominate a room space as some will think.
Something that has not been mentioned in the reviews is this models very low power consumption- 50W an hour compared to a 42" plasma I had a few years ago which gobbled up 300W with contrast set high enough to see the picture during daylight hours in a bright room! Moreover with the excellent smart tv functions through the wireless internet connection enabling on demand services and recording to a stick or onto a hard drive via the tv's usb you have virtually a one box solution which in these days of ever increasing electricity bills is a boon.
To conclude -unless you must have 3D I can see no justification for looking elsewhere as is in the title above this tv is as good as it gets!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic versatile package brings the fun back to Photography, 6 Jun 2012
Lots of views posted! I agree with the majority about the virtues of this camera and the awfully inept instructions
Before I acquired it I was interested to know how it handled/quality of build/day to day use etc along with the possibility of using 'legacy". or "orphan" lenses as the Panasonic optics are ridiculously pricey.(Supply and demand I guess - well at the moment anyway)
The body has a nicely balanced and weighted quality rubbery feel with just the right grip and feels so much better than the last plasticky (Canon 1000) -DSLR I owned. It also feels more substantial than overly lightweight big zoom 'Bridge' cameras too! The 10 or 15% reduction in size compared to a DSLR may not seem much on paper but in practice it means that it can be carried about for long periods without awareness of it's presence.
The AVCHD video is of particular interest if you have a panasonic BLURAY recorder as with an HDMI cable(not supplied)you can transfer footage direct to HDD and then edit it and save to a BLURAY disc.
With a M4/3rds adaptor (the KIWIFOTO one sold here at Amazon is sturdy and well made) and a couple of prime lenses(I use Pentax K 50mm F1.7 and 135mm F3.5)along with the Standard Zoom supplied will provide most of what you need/want.
Prospective buyers should note that the more recent model (G3)although having more pixels loses some key(for me anyway)features such as the right hand grip housing(why???) and the viewfinder eye sensor.
I can not recommend this camera enough - it feels when using the legacy lenses that you have the control that was absent in the old 35mm film days by virtue of the always bright view(which can be magnified for sharp focus) thro the big electronic v/finder even at small apertures and semi auto "A" setting in camera

4.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant if you are happy with all-Auto control., 9 May 2012
Seems quite well made but the pressure required to secure the batteries -4 AA-using part of the outer casing does not bode well from a longevity point of view and if you buy new at present there is a 2 yr warranty option offered on the label on the box -take it!. The viewing screen is quite proud and flush to rear of the camera which should be protected otherwise it will be a mass of scratches/scuffs after a few outings. Very good Zoom and the anti-vibration VR function works very well allowing sharp hand held shots at the far end of the range in good light. If you tried to cover the max zoom length with conventional DSLR lenses you would need a lot of bulky and not to say very expensive gear! The reaction time between pressing the shutter and capture is very good allowing quite spontaneous shots of children running towards you (for instance)and is much better than the majority of point & shoot cameras in this respect.
There is -however generally no control over exposure or depth of field -I say generally because it is possible -via the menu-to access the considerable number of scene modes to tailor Sports/Landscape etc, but there is no manual or program facility. The difficulty in accessing the in depth info relating to these modes is further exacerbated because the instructions are provided on a disc which -to me -is stupid in the extreme!!! These instructions -in themselves are not intuitive either and you end up going back and forth through a series of links to find what you want. In common with this cameras' rivals the viewing screen is not easy to see in bright conditions -and spectacle wearers with long sight rather than short will find the screen (which is only 230K and not the more recently seen 480K resolution) in 'no mans land' therefore will find that a bridge camera with a viewfinder may suit better.
The supplied View NX2 software is excellent it includes the Nikon D plus tweak which seems able to rescue shots that have been overexposed and is as good as many editing programmes costing £30 or more.
Batteries rather than Lithium suit me and the original non rechargeables show full charge after about a month's use.

Pros :- 21X Zoom Lens good wide angle (equivalent 25mm) to 525mm (equivalent 10x+ magnification)
- decent picture quality but my Samsung L600 takes as good a picture on 6mp up to 10' x 8".
-easy and convenient to carry about (a lot of cases sold for this camera are just too big-mine measures only 150mm x150mmx 100mm and is imported)
-good hd video performance with a/f accommodated for changes in focal length - clip length limited only by sd card size -get 8GB
-excellent software provided.
-good flash performance

Cons :- Little manual control -what there is will be lost to most who will never bother to access the frustrating links on the disc!!
Crackerjack and non-intuitive instructions on disc.
Flimsy and poorly designed battery compartment cover
Viewfinder to provide more versatility (for some but probably not all)
No hdmi output.

Summary

Very good 'point and shoot' upgrade with versatile Zoom and useable hd video for users with little interest in controlling settings or creativity.
