I thoroughly enjoyed this psychological thriller. It speeds along, effortlessly switching between viewpoints, and no-one is quite who they seem. Loved it.

This was an easy read to pass the time. I felt very cheated by the so-called twist (which was less of a twist, more a lie), and having found the book quite slow leading up to it, was disappointed to find it was really quite a boring reveal. That said, I liked the characters. The twin element was bashed on about, but wasn't relevant in any way. The ending was a bit too saccharine for my liking.

I found this novel much less interesting than `Sea Sisters`. It was very predictable and I think would have been better written in 3rd person. Sorry!

4.0 out of 5 stars An excellent read, taut and dark, 8 Jun 2013

Thoroughly enjoyed this, as I have Suzanne Bugler`s other books. Her writing style is polished and lean. I got through this in 2 days. I thought Jane`s husband was painted as somewhat blameless, though he could have made more of an effort to take time off work when it mattered, for his family. I loved the villains Melanie and Max, expertly painted :)

A very well written tale about the complexities of friendships and family. How well do we really know each other? I loved Millar`s concise, rapid pace and she uses metaphors & imagery to excellent effect. Read this if you like Susan Lewis, Julia crouch or Sophie Hannah.

3.0 out of 5 stars ORIGINAL idea, . Messily prepared, 16 April 2013
This review is from: Gone Girl (Kindle Edition)
Loved the midway twist. Hated Amy before it, then thought 'a girl with guts has appeared'. But like so many other reviewers noted, the characters became chaotic and unbelievable, caricatures. We never really knew Amy or Nick, they became puppets. Some good observations of the human condition, and society, but could have been so much better.

2.0 out of 5 stars Mediocre read, 6 Jan 2013

Readable, but somewhat dull. Not enough conflict, characters not developed enough. Only becomes interesting in final chapter. A fitting ending, however.
