1.0 out of 5 stars AVOID THIS WORTHLESS RELEASE !!!!!, 11 Dec 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Worst transfer, outside of cheap Public Domian prints, that I've personally ever seen, and in fact it gives the very, very worst of those a run for their money. Not worth a purchase at any price, no matter how low, not even worth borrowing to view in fact. Due to an apalling transfer, the 3D simply does not work and the film is 100% unwatchable, with or without 3D specs. So it's very clear indeed that absolutely zero love or care has gone into producing this release, and frankly a company like Rhino - who have done some brilliant work on both music and film releases over the years - should be hanging their in shame at the quality of this product - how on earth it got past their quality control dept beggars belief. One could seriously question the integrity of a company that puts out releases like this, though I suppose everyone is allowed a mistake or two, and as I say Rhino deserve some kudos for OTHER product.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor Quality Picture, 30 April 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Ossorio's slant on 'The Exorcist' is not a great film by any means, and here, badly dubbed from Spanish into Italian, with very poor picture quality thrown in, it becomes pretty much unwatchable. 100% NOT English friendly too.

3.0 out of 5 stars Price Makes It Worthwhile, Just., 29 May 2013
This review is from: Madhouse [DVD] (DVD)
Vincent Price that is! Not an Amicus, or Brit Horror, classic by any means, but watching Price and to a lesser degree in this particular film the great Peter Cushing, hamming it up in fine style makes it watchable. Worth a punt for collectors - if you can get it cheap - it's a decent clean widescreen print, and is fun enough to watch, if a little untidy and disjointed at times. There's some pretty bad acting and sereval miscastings, but that kind of ads to the fun in many ways. According to the BBFC it's uncut, but it does look like someone has defintely cut some of the 'gory' scenes at some point - possibly the makers themselves in the editting room - and there is absolutely no way, if it were put forward for re-classification today it would be given a Cert 18. 12 at the very most and quite possibly even a PG. So if you're looking for the promised gore on the sleeve, you're probably better off looking elsewhere!

5.0 out of 5 stars Light On Classics, Heavy On Value, 23 May 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
If you're looking for pristine, totally unblemished blu-ray prints, then you most definitely need to look elsewhwere. But this set does offer really excellent value, and of course a chance to see some rare and hard to find SW's in very watchable prints. It's all public domain business of course, but of a much higher quality than your standard DVD box sets/collections of this nature. Others here have mentioned the fact that there are a couple of issues with the audio/language - indeed one film is in Italian with no English audio at all, but I for one am glad it's included here, it's a really nice print and the storyline isn't that difficult to follow - but they're not that major and I think overall, as long as your expectations are not unrealistically high in the quality department, you will not regret a purchase. A must for any serious SW collector in my opinion. One problem I did have was that a couple of the films didn not function correctly when played on a PS3, but were absolutely fine on my Blu-ray player.

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent, Solid SW. Superb Quality Print., 28 Sep 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Killer Kid (DVD)
Enjoyable Spaghetti Western, though nothing groundbreaking, with a solid enough cast, script & storyline, reasonably well directed and photographed by Leopoldo Savona, of 'El Rojo' and 'Byleth' fame. Starring two stalwarts of the genre, Anthony Steffen and the great Fernando Sancho, alongside the beautiful Luisa Barrota, with a very decent soundtrack too from Berto Pisano. Picture quality - Koch Media Import Version - is excellent, a crystal clear anamorphic widescreen print, no English soundtrack however - German or Italian audio options only - but subtitles in English are available. It's uncut too. Definitely well worth a watch, and also worthy of a purchase if you're a collector and you can get it for a fair price. 7/10.

5.0 out of 5 stars Grab One Cheap While You Still Can !, 4 Feb 2012
If you can get a copy of this dvd at a reasonable price - I paid less than a fiver - then don't hesitate! Five good, solid, very watchable and thoroughly enjoyable films - including at least two classics of the genre, and two very highly regarded directors in Martino and Massi - that are all very hard to find uncut on dvd, and expensive when you do. Prints are of varying quality though, but 'Big Guns' and 'Emergency Squad' are both very good transfers and easily worth the purchase price alone. All bar one are widescreen too, the exeption being 'Magnum Cop' - featuring a fantastic and quite revealing cameo from Joan Collins as a stripper - which is by far the worst print of all the five films as well. It's also the only one that isn't UNRATED, though it's still Rated R and certainly doesn't appear to have been cut too heavily as there are both nudity and swearing intact.

There are no extras at all on either disc, even the scene selection is limited to four per film, no subtitles are available and all the films are dubbed into English, once again to varying degrees of quality. It's in the NTSC format, but is Region 0 and so plays on a standard European dvd player and you will not require a multi region one. The five films featured on this double dvd are ; (Disc 1) BIG GUNS, VIOLENT PROFESSIONAL, THE LONG ARM OF THE GODFATHER. (Disc 2) MAGUM COP, EMERGENCY SQUAD.

As I say, grab one while you can, particularly if you're a bit of a collector, as I can see this little gem going for a fair price if it ever goes out of print. This company - Pop Flix/Allegro - are a little hit or miss in terms of quality, but generally they do a good job in my opinion, certainly for the price. They have a fine selection of Spaghetti Western collections using the same format too, which I strongly recommend checking out if you're a fan or collector of the genre.

1.0 out of 5 stars Avoid Like The Plague !, 19 May 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Disgrace of a release, especially as it is connected to major company Sony/BMG. Quality on 'Count Dracula's Great Love' is even worse than an old video bootleg. Sound is shocking too. Picture is also really badly cropped, not that this is a particularly major issue as you can't see anything anyway ! 'Frankenseins Castle Of Freaks' is better in terms of picture quality, but is still very poor all round. Bought this pretty cheap but still feel like I've been totally ripped off, absolutely no love whatsoever gone into the production of this dvd.
