5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful book, 29 April 2013
This is a lovely book even if you didn't see the exhibition it catalogues. You can buy it new from the Fitzwilliam Museum for much less though!

4.0 out of 5 stars An informative book, but balanced it is not..., 6 Mar 2013
I am glad I read this book as it gives a broad introduction to the Reformation in the wider sense, including the intellectual and spiritual developments in England and Europe as the wider background to Henry VIII's break with Rome. However, be prepared for a very "Protestant Good, Catholic Bad" approach. My favourite example is the following from page 331 of the 2012 paperback edition: "Elizabeth's (the first) early years had, thus, been secure and happy ones, during which she had been able to develop those beliefs, attitudes and convictions which she carried into adult life". Well, yes, apart from her father judicially murdering her mother, having a step mother (not much older than a child herself) executed by her father, her father de-legitamising her and removing her from the line of succession .... but let's not nick pick, an idyllic childhood really...

Ali Baba Laundry Basket (Medium) Green Stripe
Ali Baba Laundry Basket (Medium) Green Stripe

5.0 out of 5 stars Ali baba laundry basket, 9 Feb 2011
The green and white rafia which is wound round the bamboo has a slightly plasticky look, but you can't tell unless you are looking very closely. Otherwise, a very nice basket, attractive and quite sturdy. I bought the medium size which makes a biggish basket for laundry.

5.0 out of 5 stars a beautiful book, 12 Feb 2008
This book, and the other King Arthur titles in the Hopscotch Adventures series, are beautiful books. They are well told short stories, written so that an early reader can read with just a bit of help, but full of action and adventure. The illustrations are gorgeous, with lovely use of colours. My son (aged 5) loves this book and treasures his set of the King Arthur series. A great introduction to the legend of King Arthur.

5.0 out of 5 stars a lovely book, 12 Feb 2008
My son (aged 5) loves this book, and all the other Robin Hood Hopscotch Adventures. It is a lovely book, a complete short story well written with good choice of language for early readers. The pictures are attractively drawn, full of detail, and funny. My son reads this book over and over again and it is one of the first books he has been inspired to read by himself. For a young child interested in history or who likes adventure stories, this, and the others in the Robin Hood Hopscotch series, are a real find.
