Fire Engine - Boy Birth Sampler - Cross Stitch Kit
Fire Engine - Boy Birth Sampler - Cross Stitch Kit
Offered by Sew and So
Price: 20.95

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice kit, 27 Mar 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is a good sampler kit with clear chart and good threads. It was a nice project to sew if, like me, you like fairly simple designs and blocks of stitch and also there are no outlines to back stitch which is always a bonus in my view.

Filofax A5 Metal Hole Punch
Filofax A5 Metal Hole Punch
Price: 29.92

2.0 out of 5 stars Not worth the money, 14 April 2013
Thought this would be worth the high price as is Filofax own - but it takes a lot of effort even to punch one or two sheets of 80gsm paper. try to do more than that and you almost have to put your whole weight on it to punch. A lot of money to be left wishing I'd just stuck with the plastic punch that sits in my filofax. Very disappointed.

Useful product that does what it says. Described as robust - they are sturdy enough for their purpose. I thought it was worth the money as they do what I want them to.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just right, 24 Mar 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I bought this as the old one had a broken fastener andalso was black so got lost in the bottom of my handbag. This one is sturdy and bright. Just what I wanted. Price is higher than some covers but does has a rigid plastic inner section that holds the phone firmly, so good value for money.

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting, if a little self-indulgent, 13 Jan 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I found this book quite fascinating in relation to the behind the scnes look at what a barrister does and a little about how the law works. Unfortunately the good read was tempered by the author's attempts to make the reader feel sorry for the hard time that barristers have on the whole, which was rather stymied by contradictions, such as pleading poverty on behalf of those in training whilst simultaneously describing designer shopping purchases and nights out. The descriptions of the pupil's room antics, involving much swearing apperently, did come across as the author thinking it rather big to be using the f word in every sentence (or maybe pupil's rooms are like sixth form dorms!). Anyway, if you can get past these indulgences, the book is quite a fascinating read; the cases described and the workings of the adversarial system of the law in this country are worth a read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Imaginative storyline - bit heavy going, but worth persevering, 16 Feb 2012
This review is from: Embassytown (Kindle Edition)
I read this book after seeing China Mieville at a recent event and thought his writing would be worth reading. The book's storyline is certainly imaginative and quite deep. It revolves around the intricacies of the language of an indigenous population of a planet and how humans communicate with them, and vice versa. I think Mieville has done a good job of describing ways of communicating that are so alien to each other and how this has lead to a sort of symbiotic relationship between the two and the first half of the book sets the scene well. The middle part is a bit heavy going but describes how the coming of a new different kind of ambassador changes things and the consequences of this. Along with other reviewers, I did find the writing to be a bit intense and perhaps unecessarily (at times) challenging (you may need a good dictionary as Mieville seems to enjoy using more obscure terms for things) - or maybe I'm just being a little thick! Overall though, a good story well told and I found worth perservering with.

5.0 out of 5 stars Extremely interesting and incredibly moving, 27 Nov 2007
This review is from: The Somme (Hardcover)
I was given this book as a gift and subsequently bought another copy for my mum as a gift. It is incredibly detailed and thoroughly expanded my knowledge of this very sad and terrible time in history. Particularly poignant were the examples of letters and other writings by people actually involved in the battle, including some that never made it home. It bought the history to life and made it human. I would thoroughly recommend this book.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, 27 Nov 2007
= Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars
This game could have been so much better. It does follow the format of the TV show in that you open the boxes and accept or reject the banker's offer in contestant mode, but there are too many irritations to make it much fun. The dreadful mini-game in which you have to follow where the cup among three boxes is slow and repetative and hardly a challange! It is the same in every game and gets very annoying very quickly. When you accept a deal, the game carries on without indicating that you have done so, so the first time it seems as though the game has malfunctioned. At the end of each game, you don't even get to open the final boxes - it just goes straight to 'Noel' saying bad luck or congratulations, then to the final score screen where you find out what was in your box. A disappointment.
