Lars Von Trier got us used to dense psychological plots. In this sense Melancholia brings really nothing new, with superbly represented characters in a movie dealing with individual and familiar dramas seasoned with a catastrophic event: a planet that is coming fast towards the Earth. Visually, the movie is a whole new world. An amazingly beautiful film with breath-taking scenes right from the beginning.

The opening scene, with a horse falling under the weight of gravity, is the most astonishing, sad yet beautiful scene I have ever seen in a film. A must see, definitely.

A (kind of) autobiographical fiction from one of the most absorbing and powerful critics of contemporary America. Kurt Vonnegut capture us with his brilliant imagination, seduces us with his vision of the world, and wonders us with his own special way of dealing with pressing social constraints. Long live Vonnegut.

As usually happens with this interpreter, she makes our emotions drift away and return home richer with the experience. Her voice, the music, her passion, everything is gorgeous.
