I'd never heard of this band before, but I heard a few short snippets from this album and decided to buy it. I'm pleased to say that I wasn't disappointed. There are a lot of similarities to Dream Theater here and, although it's a little raw in places and the vocals could be better, there's some excellent musicianship on display. The music has that arab touch to it, giving them that little edge that makes them slightly different from most. This is a band with HUGE potential. On the down side, I wanted to get the Tales in the Sand album, but I'm finding it rather hard to locate a copy.

This Blue Ray outing by Alterbridge really shows them off at their best. The quality of the recording is excellent. This is a band that consistently produce first class material and deserve to be up there with the best.I strongly recommend this.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not so black and whiteAlthough this a good albu m, 7 April 2010

Although this is a good album musically it's spoilt a little by some poor vocals. However, set aside the vocals and you can hear many influences such as Pink Floyd, Genesis, Yes and other big names on the early prog rock scene. If you're into prog rock then it's well worth a listen.
