5.0 out of 5 stars The Town vs The Gown, 9 Dec 2011
Upper Class masters in robes (gowns) oversee the boy pupils at Kahn a school and institution so old and superior it is mentioned in the "Doomsday Book". Smiley's war time friend Ms.Brimley, now editor of the "Christian Voice" asks George to investigate after one of her readers (the wife of a Kahn master) claims in a letter that she will be murdered in "the long nights". She's right on - dead from a brutal beating. Who was the real Stella Rhode was she as good as gold or a troublemaker? The investgation leads to another death and a climax at Smiley's dinner table in his Bywater Street home. A must. Don Wardell

5.0 out of 5 stars In the begining - enter George Smiley, 9 Dec 2011
"It was just a routine interview" says Smiley, Arthur Fennon denounced as a spy, Smiley investigates. "There's nothing in it". Why then did Fennon kill himself the next night - or did he? This is the worlds first look at George Smiley and his refugee wife Ailsa. It also brings the wonderful Inspector Mendel into our lives. A must for Smiley fans - followed by a "Murder of Quality" enjoy them in order.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Return to life" - thrill to Dickens, 9 Dec 2011
"A Tale of Two Cities" in this multi-pack of Dickens six classics is worth the price of admission alone. The poverty of the London and Paris streets is set in counter point to the drawing rooms and salons of each City. Beautifully produced for radio, you even hear the horse's bridles jingle on the Dover stage. Superb! Don Wardell KWXY Radio

Price: 6.79

5.0 out of 5 stars Poirot and Oliver - together again!, 9 Dec 2011
Hercule Poirot's pal Ariadne Oliver chews on apples "i'm addicted to them" and writes murder mystery with her Swedish sleuth as the hero.
Many claim she is Dame Agatha's fictional version of herself. Whatever she's a lot of fun, remember her in "Haloween Party"?. Ms Oliver and Poirot are invited for a game of cards. Eight people at two tables - no-one gets up during the game of bridge but at the end there's a dead body. What fun, what lovable nonsense, you'll enjoy every word.

4.0 out of 5 stars Late night shivers!, 9 Dec 2011
Five glorious tales, set at the turn of the century. You find a whistle on a golf course, blow on it and "something" follows you home and then wrecks your bedroom. Not for the faint of heart. Great stuff to hear under the blankets. Is is safe there - isnt it? Don Wardell KWXY Radio Palm Springs.

4.0 out of 5 stars Marvelous March, 9 Dec 2011
Ms March has things English down pat. She is however, from New Zealand however, there's not a vicarage, small theatre, a teapot or a British character she doesn't understand to the core. Wonderful stuff!
Put on the electric blanket and enjoy. Don Wardell KWXY Radio, Palm Springs

2.0 out of 5 stars The Christie Formula, 9 Dec 2011
It's the classic Christie plot - isolate the cast in a snow filled Village as in "The Sittaford Mystery" or a Hotel like the "The Mousetrap" or better yet cut them all off on a deserted "Island"
All ten guests of Mr. U. N. Owen are accused of a crime and arrive at an isolated Island Hotel. One by one they are killed off, as in the nursery rhyme. Mrr Boyle is my favorite character, a superior spinster (surely a vanishing breed). The recording needs a stronger leading lady on whom much depends. It was all to familiar for me but is classic Chrtisie take these ten card board characters and move them around till viola! - the killer in unmasked. A for effort c for results.

5.0 out of 5 stars Paul and Steve are back in the murder business, 6 Nov 2011
I didn't know until this new re-record of a vintage Paul Temple that Paul and Steve had a son. Hard to think of them as parents but they are pleasing detectives. It's the same faithful Durbridge confection, this time the Temples are looking for "Valentine" the head of a drug racket. Mary is their housekeeper - well before Charlie arrives on the scene. It's the usual blend of crashed cars, suprise attacks from other vehicles, anonymous letters, exploding light switches and telephone calls, that bring sinister warnings. But I love this heady mixture of elegance and camp. More, more more - Don Wardell KWXY Radio ZPalm Springs,California

The Sittaford Mystery (BBC Radio Collection)
The Sittaford Mystery (BBC Radio Collection)
by Agatha Christie
Edition: Audio CD
Price: 7.15

5.0 out of 5 stars Snowed in with Agatha, 6 Nov 2011
The village of Sittaford is snowed in. The cast of characters are cut off in this hamlet in the middle of Dartmoor. Mrs Willet and her daughter Violet give an afternoon cocktail party where they decide to
divert themselves by "table turning". The table has a message for one of their guests that his friend Major Burnaby has been murdered. What are the Willets doing leaving South Africa to spend a winter in the snows of Dartmoor? There's even an escaped prisoner from a local jail on the loose. Mrs Curtis a local landlady is very concerned.
This is Dame Agatha at her best isolate the principles and move the characters around until - viola a solution and a darn clever one at that. A must for Christie fans. Make a cocoa, turn up the electric blanket and join in the fun. Don Wardell KWXY Radio Palm Springs, California.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb Radio Drama, 6 Nov 2011
"Bomber" takes radio drama to a new height. A large cast, superb sound effects and great attention to war time flying detail make this a truly epic production. It's told from both an English and German point of view and in real time. If you are a fan of radio drama you HAVE to hear this Production. Is this a real air raid on Germany or a work of fiction? Superb! Don Wardell KWXY Radio Palm Springs Califonia.
