2.0 out of 5 stars Interesting - think I'll write a book on called Newtons's Concerns, 9 Mar 2014
This review is from: Darwin's Doubt (Hardcover)
...because then I presumably will attract all those who don't believe in the theory of gravity.

What a load of deliberately provocative nonsense. And yes I did read it. (bought second hand and then donated to local charity shop.) Darwin may well have believed in Fairies at the bottom of his Garden but what has that to do with the Evolution? The creepy blinkered logic of this twaddle is actually a bit scary - It makes you wonder how big a whopper you can peddle on your way up the best seller charts. If I didn't think it was potentially dangerous - as I believe such clear fundamentalist religious rubbish as this is, wrapped up in a shabby scientific suit, I would just ignore it, but clearly this stuff is popular and therefore some nut job may get elected to a position of authority spouting this stuff. Stand up for reason and logic, be proud and loud and tell the world why this 'argument' is nonsense. Feel good you will have reason on your side.

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointment Warning, 9 Sep 2013
= Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars
Following the trend - this game is not close to being finished. The list of things wrong with it are well known - please go search the forums. I have tried it and frankly I am embarrassed at firing money at it on release - I have only compounded the problem! One day if the modding community can even be bothered with this, it may be a good game - but frankly its walk away, shake my head, and consider it a lesson learned (again).

If this was a beef burger it would say may contain beef.....

3.0 out of 5 stars Just another budget printer, 13 Mar 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I owned this printer for a year and have now junked it due to a breakage in the cartridge replacement mechanism. While it worked it was fine, no issues with it - but its the traditional plastic printer that costs low £'s and with a poor build quality. This probably means its like every other budget printer out there - sold low to get you to buy expensive ink. Now looking for a replacement with no great hopes of better!

1.0 out of 5 stars For the dull of wit, 25 Feb 2013
Another laughable cash in on the nonsense of the pseudo religious nut jobs that is the creationist conspiracy theorists. Not only has this book had to altered by the authors due to completely erroneous photographs in his examples, but the assumption of a well drilled star chamber of everyone who has ever undertaken serious palaeontology is at the first laughable, then a bit sad... Another wondrous revelation by a self appointed expert who is clearly working on the maxim that the more outrageous the nonsense the more interest he will generate in his 'textbook for home schoolers'. Oh bring in the next asteroid oh lord - I think we're ready!

This review is from: Let's Get Lost [1988] [DVD] (DVD)
Fantastic documentary and not being a Jazz fan came to it completely cold and really not expecting much. In the end found the documentary brilliantly shot and produced, extremely interesting and the music was superb. Highly recommend this thoughtful work.

I really enjoyed this work, Kate takes several songs and reinterprets them, this is a new artistic view of her already great material. This is high art, rather than another sausage squeezed out of the music money machine.

Great book if you want a catalogue of high quality plates and reference text. Very useful if you are interested in viewing Schiele's work from a technical (artists) point of view.

3.0 out of 5 stars Technical manual, 5 Jun 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is a very useful book, please note though that it is very much a recipe list rather than a guide. It consist of very concise recipes for patination, which is exactly what it advertises in the title, but really no more than that. There are light chapters on general technique and historical background but these are short and generic.

Also, it covers several metals - now this is not a criticism - the book title is very clear but if you are looking for recipes for bronze patination only, be warned - only 50 pages refer directly to bronze, the other metals - brass, copper, gilding metal, silver etc make up the rest.

Patrick Kipper's book may be more useful to those of us working mainly in bronze.

A book I'm glad to have in my library and have used for some great effects, but not a daily read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Latecomer to Roy, and a great first album, 27 Mar 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Coda (Audio CD)
I hadn't heard of Roy until I was given the nod on Radio 2 - this album has been one of the greatest finds. Lyrics and performance that are honest, touching, strong and beautiful.

His version of Beeswing, is superb.

If you have even the smallest folk bone in your body this is a album you must have!
