Price: £2.38

5.0 out of 5 stars Move over Buffy, and the Winchester boys, 30 Oct 2014

I like the author's version of vampires more rounded and believable. the story started sluggish and it was bit of an effort to keep reading. but I'm glad I did. as the author settled in so did the story. well worth a read.

Savage: An Apocalyptic Horror Novel
Savage: An Apocalyptic Horror Novel
Price: £2.99

4.0 out of 5 stars Walking dead UK style., 29 Oct 2014

solidly written with good characters. for me this author's version of zombies is the most believable, many stories have them as seekers, running climbing, thinking.... You find yourself thinking that you wish the authors would learn a little more about biology and the processes of decomposition. but Mr Wright seems to have done so which in of itself is refreshing. well done sir a worthy read

brilliant setting, really captures the essence of the Victorian era while melding the ideas of Verne, wells seamlessly. very impressed and will be reading more from this author.

very world war z-ish (the film not the book) but keeping it confine to one town was a better idea I think. I read the author's foreword and have to say he does himself a disservice. the book is worth the price and a good read.

Kaiju Winter: An End Of The World Thriller
Kaiju Winter: An End Of The World Thriller
Price: £1.99

2.0 out of 5 stars Not a kaiju novel, 13 Oct 2014
details on the monsters are sketchy at best and they seem to be more of a side story. in fact you could have left them out completely without really affecting the story. characters, with the exception of Lowell were a bit wooden and one dimensional and the story a little on the predictable side. Not the worst thing I've read but not the best either.

The Black: A Deep Sea Thriller
The Black: A Deep Sea Thriller

5.0 out of 5 stars Creature feature masterclass, 5 Oct 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
how a creature feature should be written, slow start accelerating its pace as it reaches the climax. good solid characters, realistic setting, good science. well done Mr Cooley, wish I had your ability to put ideas to paper.

Tidal Grave: A Deep Sea Thriller
Tidal Grave: A Deep Sea Thriller
Price: £1.99

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid read, 3 Oct 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
good characters. there seemed to be some discrepancy about the size of the creature, big enough to take down a rig but small enough to have to climb up buildings. SPOILER ALERT

seems a shame that he killed off the two best characters. think jaws meets Godzilla and you'll have some idea of how the story goes. personally I think a lot more could be done with the plot, stretching out the tension a bit more but it does work. just one major gripe... WHAT THE HELL WAS THE BEAST OF SUNSET ISLAND??????

a solidly written story with good, if somewhat hackneyed characters (good o'l boy sheriff, native American Vietnam vet, who happens to be a shaman and the natural mother to name but a few.) despite this it is a good story and a good read

Shadow Dancer (Kitsune series Book 1)
Shadow Dancer (Kitsune series Book 1)
Price: £2.55

5.0 out of 5 stars A good read., 26 Sep 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
set in the world of deathwalker with some of the same characters Blayde weaves an excellent story around another brilliant central character. as with the author's other novels, the end seems almost anti-climatic and yet this works for them. overall well worth the cost buy it.

Blue Star Priestess (Demon Lord Book 3)
Blue Star Priestess (Demon Lord Book 3)
Price: £2.45

5.0 out of 5 stars The best yet, 24 Sep 2014

someone has to make a t.v. series of these books!!!! awesome as always Caine deathwalker the anti-hero you loved to hate or hate to love continues his journey to finding out who he is and more precisely what he is.... with more gods, demons, vamps fairies, werewolves and other assorted preternatutal beings than the first two instalments put together this is the best one yet.
a few typos sprang out by nothing that spoiled the flow.

now, who's soul do I have to drink to get my hands on the next instalment?
