5.0 out of 5 stars RIP Celtic Tiger, 24 Sep 2013

This book sums up so much of what happened to Ireland in recent years. I found the characterisations touching and the despair engendered in small communities beautifully described. The writing is delicate and, although the plot(s) verge sometimes on the theatrical, they are believable in the light of the financial collapse. This book should appeal to anyone who enjoys reading about the effects of distant events on the lives of ordinary people.

5.0 out of 5 stars Reading in the dark, 18 Jan 2013

Find it really comes into it's own at night - at last this insomniac can read without disturbing my husband. It is a little heavier than I was expecting and the page turning sometimes doesn't always work smoothly but in spite of these little niggles I still give it 5 stars.

This book is for anyone who has battled with dieting and failed. Jan Chozen Bays gentle encouragement to consider how and why we eat is a sure path to understanding so much of what leads to stress in our lives today. The exercises she suggests will give readers an new and welcome appreciation of food and how we eat. I cannot recommend it enough.

Between the Lines: Poems on the Dart
Between the Lines: Poems on the Dart
by Jonathan Williams
Edition: Paperback

4.0 out of 5 stars Poems on the Dart, 25 Sep 2010

This is a book for any weary traveller whose spirits have been lifted on Dublin's Dart service. The poems are a representative sample of the works published on the suburban train service - a mix of international and local talent. Just one regret - some favourites have been omitted, inevitable really for space reasons. Perhaps a new edition, featuring the missing poems, might be considered? Jonathan Williams has done the citizens of Dublin a service with this anthology.
