4.0 out of 5 stars Not all Glitzy?, 10 Aug. 2009
This title is a little misleading. It is a somewhat basic publication on making slightly more progressive quilts. It is presented in clear, logical steps from dyeing, piecing and embellishing but with a relatively small space on 'glitz'. Good to purchase if you are wanting to make the next step from your first few quilts.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not so Hot textiles, 10 Aug. 2009
Thank you Kim for this - so many ideas to try. The only criticism is that the techniques are shown in glorious colour but more Step by step instructions would have been useful. But will definitely purchase your next publication.

5.0 out of 5 stars A textile Must!, 10 Aug. 2009
(Written by his wife Linda) This is a book that every person with a sewing machine should purchase. The techniques are written clearly with step by step instructions as well as showing their developments. As a City & Guilds student I have found this book absolutely invaluable.

World Without End
World Without End
by Ken Follett
Edition: Paperback

3.0 out of 5 stars World's End, 10 Aug. 2009
This review is from: World Without End (Paperback)
Having read Pillars of the Earth I was very intrigued to read the sequel. I found it a little disappointing as this book is very much the same format only set in the next century and the characters were almost identical. Having said this it was a good read. Follett brought a different insight into various periods of history - making the situation more personal i.e. the plague.

3.0 out of 5 stars Started well with a poor finish., 4 Jun. 2009
I was initially very pleased with this publication. the patterns were very different to the normal patchwork ones and I was intrigued with some of her fabric choices. The use of 'curtain' fabrics such as brocade together with the colourways was clever and steered me away from the normal tiny patterned cottons. However the 'projects' were lacking in definition and I was at a loss as to why the 'animals' were included - they did not fit. Also I would not consider cathedral patchwork as origami! Overall a useful edition which has added to my stock of 'fabric manipulation' patterns.
