5.0 out of 5 stars A must for all OU SD226 Students, 8 May 2013
Any OU Psychology Degree student will know how challenging SD226 can be. The course books are like wading through treacle and give incomplete explanations. This book provides the support which is so lacking from the OU and for anyone struggling with SD226 this is provides the answers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Uptodate, relevant, indespesable for self builders, 29 Mar. 2013

This review is from: Housebuilders Bible 10 (Paperback)
If you are a self builder you must buy this book. Very simply written in plain language and packed with good advice an essential tome for budding self build project managers. Every aspect from plot finding to plumbing is in this book, excellent reviews of building methods with costs, benefits all written in jargon free lay parlance.

You are left in doubt about the challenge of self build the author adds a good dose of reality to those of us who might get carried away by the self build fantasy. The dream moves from black and white to full technicolor gore and all; you are well prepared to step up and meet the challenge.

I have a number of self-build books and if limited to one book; this is the one I would take to the proverbial desert island.

1.0 out of 5 stars Perfect (if you are clueless), 29 Mar. 2013
Most self-builders have more than a modicum of common sense and this scant volume offers little more than that. Anybody who has been through the standard house selling and buying process have already had first hand experience of what's needed; in the most part it is the same. The self build magazine websites have more up to date and relevant advice on plot finding and valuation. The book opens by inviting you to consider the type of house you require and cautions you to consider all your needs. The author points out it would be a problem to move in and discover the local schools are not close.. DOH! Perhaps my expectation of finding even a small nugget that would justify the purchase of the book and assist my quest was too high.

1.0 out of 5 stars A waste of money, 17 Sept. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The bulk of this book is taken up with University listings which are frankly little more than establishment advertisements. Much more useful information is available on the TTA, GTTR and Times Educational Supplement websites. I personally found this disappointing and a waste of money.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Elephant in the room may be a therapist disguised as a coach., 3 Aug. 2012

The message in this book is clear, the Rubber of Coaching now needs to hit the road.

Our economy is failing, our NHS is broke, Therapy won't fix either

lets cut the crap
lets cut the talking shops
lets take action
lets close the cosy clubs

Good Coaching may be informed by therapy but it ain't the same.

3.0 out of 5 stars possibly less helpful than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick, 26 April 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is an excellent book and especially useful to anyone studying for the BPS A & B certificate in psychometric testing. The book is imho faultless apart from the very weak and very thin index. This is a reference book and if you can't find what you need then imho it's less helpful as a poke in the eye with a sharp stick. One example is that ipsative or self referencing cannot be found in the subject index, however this important topic is adequately covered in the book if you can find it. To find it you need sufficient knowledge to know roughly which area to look. This is a five star text which is limited by its subject index. A real shame........
