With 46 tracks this double album offers superb value for money. Many of the songs are well known and available on other compilations but there are also many lesser known tracks which make this a worthwhile purchase. It's particualrly good music to have in the car and equally good to have at a party. Sunshine in a twin CD case!

A not too well known vocal trio, Surface were a very good soft soul group. This album showcases the best of their material including 'You Are My Everything' which makes an excellent first wedding dance. If you can find this album at a reasonable price, it is well worth a listen.

This 20-track compilation released as a joint venture by Verve and Blue Note, covers a lot of ground -- from 1943 to 1962 -- but then, so did Dinah Washington. She sang down and dirty blues, lush ballads, romantic standards, sophisticated R&B, swinging jazz, and even country, and this disc gives a taste of each style. Her earliest recordings were rooted in the blues and are represented by 1943's low-down and nasty "Evil Girl Blues," 1951's "New Blowtop Blues," and the filthy and funny "Big Long Slidin' Thing" from 1954. By the mid-'50s Washington had segued into a more sophisticated jazz style. Her version of "Teach Me Tonight" from 1954 featuring Hal Mooney's orchestra is seminal, her recording of "White Gardenia" from 1955 nothing short of heartbreaking. She also did an incredible cover of Hank Snow's country hit "I Don't Hurt Anymore" in 1954. A nice inclusion is a live recording of "All of Me" from the 1958 Newport Jazz Festival that finds Washington commandeering Terry Gibbs' vibraphone and banging out a solo. By time the late '50s rolled around, Washington had begun recording R&B and pop under the guidance of Belford Hendricks. In 1959 he teamed her up with Brook Benton and they had an R&B hit with the sassy "Baby, You've Got What It Takes." Washington had a hit on her own with a silky and very smooth version of "What a Difference a Day Makes" in 1960. She jumped to Roulette in the early '60s and recorded pop songs, three of which are included here. Washington was an unforgettable singer and The Definitive Dinah Washington shows just why that is so. Highly recommended.

This is the largest of the Slappa CD carrying cases. It will transport 300 CDs with graphics (kept in transparent pocket above CD) or 600 CDs without graphics. Like all the cases in the series it is very well made and offers superb protection. Unlike smaller cases in the range this case has wheels and an extendable handle so can be wheeled around just like a suitcase. With 300 CDs and graphics it is also quite comfortable to lift with the carrying handle. With 600 CDs it gets quite heavy. If you wish to transport a large number of CDs together in a light weight and convenient case with good protection, I know of no better product.

Anyone who enjoys a good knees up to Hava Nagila and other songs of similar ilk will love this album. This is a very well recorded CD with traditional arrangements. For a party or just to listen it will not disappoint.

Slappa make a series of cases for carrying or storing either CDs only or CDs with their graphics showing in a transparent sleeve above the CD. Without jewel cases CDs are so much easier to carry and locate. Slappa cases are not cheap but are very well made and offer excellent protection to CDs in transit. I use them all the time and can strongly recommend them

I bought this album for Love is a Battlefield by Pat Benatar. It contains Heart of Glass by Blondie and Walking on Sunshine by Katrina and the Waves, which frequently appear on compilations, but contains enough good lesser known songs to make it a worthwhile purchase at the prices being advertised.

Anyone who goes to the USA or further south will invariably hear great latin music coming from record shops, cafes and bars. It's not easy to identify favourites. Like the Now series in the UK, the Now Latino series collects together the latest hits in the genre. The album will only be as good or as bad as the songs that people have been buying. This album is probably the best in the series so far. It is a way to dip your toe in the water to see if the series might be for you. It is a good idea to listen to samples first if you have the opportunity.

This series is a brilliant idea introducing listeners to music from across the world that they are very unlikely to hear anywhere else. But beware - one man's wailing may be another man's great song! I tend to prefer up tempo music and the first CD opens thrillingly with a Tex-Mex rocker El Gatillo by Calexico followed by La Vida Trombola by Manu Chao. The CD cover describes the process of choosing the songs and then says that a running order naturally suggests itself. To my ears this gives a selection of dirges all together on parts of the 2nd CD and I found it very hard listening. No doubt they are all good songs taken in isolation.....but together? The UK selected song is 'Hong Kong' by Gorillaz. Charlie Gillett no doubt revels in his ability to clutch the obscure but I do wonder how much better the selections could have been from other countries if this is presented as the best effort from the UK.

Beauty is in the ear of the beholder and any praise or condemnation of this twin CD will be very much a personal view. I don't think I have ever been so excited by the start of a CD and yet so disappointed by the end. More than most CDs, I think it is wise to listen to samples before deciding whether to splash your cash!

This bag is brilliant for transporting 2 speaker stands as it contains two large compartments which each zip up separately. A two part handle then velcros together for an easy carry. The compartments are a really good size so may well be big enough for some lighting stands as well. If you are looking for something that is really easy to pack and stops two stands knocking against each other in transit, you won't find a better case than this quality product from Gator.
