Final Touch Brainfreeze Skull Shot Glass, Set of 4, Clear
Final Touch Brainfreeze Skull Shot Glass, Set of 4, Clear
Offered by CKB LTD
Price: £11.65

5.0 out of 5 stars Skulltastic!, 16 Nov. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I purchased two sets of these glasses (8 in total) for a Halloween party that a good friend was hosting, and, as predicted, they were an instant hit.

The glasses themselves are very well made and feel robust in your hand, without being overly weighty. They hold a standard shot size, and indeed, a decent freehand pour (as shown in the photo) of your beverage of choice.

As a special surprise, we customised some of the glasses before giving them to the host by etching some of them with Halloween related imagery. If you have time and are using them for a similar type of event, I'd recommend this as it really does make a unique gift. There is a number of methods that can be used for etching, but, in my case I used my Silhouette Portrait to cut designs onto good quality vinyl and then used some Armour Etch Glass Etching Cream to etch the design onto the glass. If you end up using a similar method, pay close attention to the instructions for Armour Etch… leaving it on for too long (longer than a minute or so) could have undesirable results. I'd also stress that you should make sure that you use protective gloves!

All in all, I'd happily recommend this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars How do you say "Coffee" in Minionese?, 9 Nov. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This was purchased as a gift for someone who, like me, is a fan of the Minions, and indeed, a fan of coffee!

The coaster itself is of the cork backed variety and feels robustly made - the top is printed well and looks like it will last for some time, the only problem is, we still don't know how you would say coffee in Minionese! :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Works perfectly every time., 2 Aug. 2015

This Transfer paper is ideal, in my experience for affixing vinyl that has been cut with my Silhouette Portrait (aka Graphtec) plotter. It has a 'tackiness' similar to a good brand of masking tape (i.e. 3M Scotch), however, unlike masking tape, it has the advantage of a 'grid' to assist placement, and the fact that it can be cut to size in both length and height. It's a simple product, but it works very well.

The product is supplied by Angel Direct Products who are thoroughly delightful to deal with and I will gladly purchase again when it runs out, however, with 15 metres, that may be a while!

TUKLOK FREEZER BAGS PACK OF 30
TUKLOK FREEZER BAGS PACK OF 30

5.0 out of 5 stars Not the easiest to find, but consistently the best!, 2 Aug. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: TUKLOK FREEZER BAGS PACK OF 30
It seems a little "odd" to write a review for a pack of plastic bags, but as these things go, I have to say I am impressed.

I've been using "Tuklok" bags for years, and, having developed dexterity issues as a result of Multiple Sclerosis, I've really come to appreciate the unique locking 'mechanism' that the bags have. The 'tuklok', which is literally a round hole at the top right hand corner of the bag which allows you to 'pass' the other side of the bag through to create an airtight seal with a minimum of effort - no tying holes or having to use a cable tie.

These are the freezer strength version so have a more robust polythene than the type you would typically use for a sandwich - this is helpful as it means the bags can be used to store bulkier items and can cope with being used more than once (for example, to store bread between uses).

Recommended - I just wish they were easier to find! :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb flour, 27 July 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I initially happened upon this flour through one of the "Customers Who Bought This Item Also Bought" links that appeared when purchasing another brand of flour and was intrigued by the promise of Mixed Grains. I'm glad I clicked the Buy it Now button since the flour is nothing but superb.

We've been using this flour for over a month every couple of days in our Panasonic SD-2501WXC bread maker and have had excellent results every time… the resulting bread smells superb, and tastes even better! I'm certainly no food writer, but I'd describe the flavour as kind of malty - somewhere in between a good wholemeal bread and a malted loaf. The grains, which are present in a decent quantity are sufficiently milled meaning there is no 'nasty surprises' (aka hard bits that can break your teeth!) in the resulting mix.

The pack does give an example recipe for a bread maker, but after tinkering, I've found the following works particularly well in our Panasonic. I'm certainly no Paul Hollywood but I quite like the way this turns out. That said, this is a resilient flour so I'd encourage experimenting with it until you find what suits you best.

Mixed Grain - Medium Loaf
-----------------------------------
Ingredients:
1 tsp Yeast
400 g Wessex Mill Mixed Grain Flour
1 tsp Salt (Table)
15 mL Oil (Olive or Rapeseed)
OR 15-20g Unsalted Butter (break into chunks)
40 mL Semi-Skimmed Milk
60 mL Hot Water (about 70ºc)
160 mL Cold (Tap) Water

Method:

1) Add dry ingredients in order listed, ensuring that the yeast is at the very bottom of the bread pan (ensure the blade/paddle is already installed)
2) Combine Milk with the Hot and Cold water in a jug - the resulting liquid should be 260 mL
3) Add liquid to dry mixture along with the oil (or butter)
4) Set the Panasonic machine to Menu 5, ensuring the size is set to M and that the timer is set for 3 hours. BAKE!
5) Optional, but recommended: After 2 hours and 5 mins (about 10 mins before baking commences), open the machine and 'score' the dough. Use a Grignette if you have one, but if not, take a sharp knife and 'score' a line approx 0.5cm deep lengthways along the centre of the dough (if your machine is facing you, score from the back to front). This allows the steam from the bread to discharge more evenly when baking.

Once your bread has finished baking check that the consistency is as you'd expect - if it feels a little soft, finish in the oven. I've found that if it's needed, finishing at 150ºc in a fan oven for 10 - 15 minutes works well.

ENJOY :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Put simply, a wonderful tool, from a wonderful company!, 27 July 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is one of those tools which seems a bit unnecessary at first, but after a couple of uses you wonder however you were able to make bread without it - it does take a bit of practice (and patience!) to get the hang of it, but when you do, you will be able to notice the difference in your bread, as a quick 'slash' across the top makes the world of difference to the bread's ability to release steam during baking, resulting in a much more consistent bake (In my experience, found it best to 'slash' about 10 minutes before baking).

Quick note on blades: The Grignette is supplied with a Derby Extra DE blade - this is good for several uses, but as it takes a Double Edge blade, it is very easy to source replacements for when the included blade is past best. At the moment I'm currently using Gillette 7 O'Clock Sharpedge blades, but any DE blade from a reputable source should work just as well.

Turning to the manufacturer/seller (TheBreadCompany) themselves - I ordered two items at the same time and was delighted to find a handwritten note on the despatch note from Claire advising that Amazon had charged too much postage which she had refunded. Many retailers would simply accept a miscalculation in their favour and pocket the cash, so it is very nice to see a small business who have the decency to refund an overage without even blinking.

I would gladly purchase this product again should the need arise.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sometimes good things do come in small packages…, 1 Jun. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Don't be fooled by the small size of this Quick-Grip - it is genuinely a very useful tool to have in your toolbox for those occasions where you need to hold something relatively small together (for example, whilst waiting for glue to set on an item that's too small for a regular grip).

Now of course, it is worthwhile thinking of your application carefully - if working with power tools you probably do not want to rely on this as your only clamp (at least, not one of them on their own) just to err on the side of safety, but it does have many uses. Very handy!

Blackspur BB-DS153 Disposable Coveralls
Blackspur BB-DS153 Disposable Coveralls
Price: £2.00

3.0 out of 5 stars Brings new meaning to 'single use', 4 Dec. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Unfortunately I can only echo the disappointment expressed by other reviewers - these coveralls are not the best quality, and in my experience, they don't even last a 'single use' as the material is very thin and rips easily.

I'm grudgingly giving it 3 stars as it does do its job to an extent, but it's unlikely I would buy again as there are much better options out there. That said, if you have an ongoing need for an item like this, you'd be much better off buying a non disposable coverall - slightly more messy, but much better value in the long run, and more likely to be made of a durable fabric that will last much longer.

Exactly what you'd expect from MK - a product that is both well designed and manufactured (in Britain), but also, reasonably priced.

We are using these switches in conjunction with the MK Neon Locator (Tracer) add ons, which provide a gentle green light around the outside of the frame, making it easy to locate the light switch in a dark area, such as a hallway.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent product - with a caveat..., 2 Dec. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I've been using Dymo products for years (both in the form of handheld labellers and the labelwriter series) so before purchasing I was already reasonably familiar with the Dymo product line.

The LabelManager PnP has a mini flash drive built in which contains a 'light' version of the Dymo Label software for both Mac OS X and Windows, so the unit is truly plug and play - literally, pop the battery in (charges over USB), plug into computer and open the label software, it couldn't be simpler.

The 'light' software covers labelling basics, but if you are going to use the unit continually on the same machine, I'd recommend looking at the full version of DLS, which is freely available from dymo.com - this contains much more functionality and is cross compatible if you have more than one Dymo device, so you can alternate between different units from the one piece of software.

Except... if you using a Mac and are running OS X 10.10 (Yosemite) that is! The software provided with the device is incompatible with Yosemite, so although it will look like it is working correctly, you will end up with blank labels. Dymo have confirmed they are looking at releasing a newer version of the 'light' software, but there is an easy fix in the meantime, which is to download the latest version of DLS (8.5.2).

It's worth noting that these units use Dymo D1 tape, so if you are upgrading from a handheld labeller your existing tapes may not fit. The LabelManager PnP uses D1 tapes in 6, 9 and 12mm sizes, if you need to use larger tape you may find the LabelManager PnP Wireless to be a better fit, as it can take tapes with a width of up to 24mm.
