5.0 out of 5 stars Performance ..., 27 Dec 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Stephanie is without doubt one of the greatest performers I've ever seen in my 47 years of watching music progress from the late 60s to the s*dding X-factor.
Seriously, this is a stunningly effective and well performed gig. You can compare Steph to Madonna all you like BUT there's one major difference. The former has a voice to die for and can play her instruments (primarily piano) very well because of her semi-classical training. Presentation wise there's no comparison either. I think Gaga has far more imagination and style than just about anyone has ever had on stage and certainly the aforementioned Madonna. This blu-ray really captures the gig, had a 47 year old man, his 46 year old female partner and a 14 year old girl enthralled and made me so happy that at least there's one real artist left in the world!

5.0 out of 5 stars A superb machine for stating the current time., 14 Dec 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I now have two Junghans Mega Solar Ceramic watches, an 018/1111.44 and this new 018/1132.44.
Both are superb devices and highly recommended but you'll struggle to get the former 2nd hand
because owners don't let them go and for good reason! I've had my original watch for 12 years
and it looks like I bought it today. There is no visible diffence between my 12 year old watch
and my 1 day old watch because of the ceramic material they're made of. The case and the strap
(mostly) are made of zirconium oxide ceramic material that is more scratch resistant than stainless
steel and in my experience pretty much impervious to anything solid or liquid. My first watch
came with a 10 year scratch guarantee that was not needed. The new version does not but clearly
won't need it! The watch is solar powered (with a 21 month battery backup), can be used in pure
Quartz mode with user setting of hh/mm/ss and date. The watch is set automatically at night by a
signal from the German physics lab's caesium clock and arrived spot on to the second. It can be set
to any time zone that's plus/minus x hours from CET (not on the half hour so India is out) and
can also be set by USA and Japanese transmitters. The date (and information) display is an inverted
LCD and so appears white(ish) on black. The hh/mm hands are vaguely luminescent and the second hand
has a luminescent tip but is otherwise black and hard to see. Note that in reality the solar cell
colour and the plastic surrounding the date are nearly the same. A flash has been used to take the
product images online and it's showing too much contrast. The face is pretty much full black except
in very bright light.
I highly recommend this watch, it'll last indefinitely and look good too. Be aware that the strap
as supplied is very loose on my large male arm so you might need to get it adjusted. Unlike the older
ceramic straps this one is fully linked and can be resized at will as long as you keep the parts!
I took my watch to a jeweller to get the bracelet shortened but then added a link back in myself
when I got home because the watch was too tight. You need a punch to push the links out, a plastic backed
hammer and (probably) some pliers but that's all. The bracelet is actually a minor miracle of engineering
but looks exactly like the older bracelet that had to be cut to size.

5.0 out of 5 stars A very nice gold cd but NOT an SACD!, 28 Nov 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Marc Cohn (Omr) (Mlps) (Audio CD)
I ordered this item because it was listed as an SACD and I REALLY wanted that.
It turns out to be a high quality standard CD with a gold data layer. That's the best you'll ever get from a CD but it's far from SACD so I'm not impressed with Amazon's labelling!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very well presented., 17 Nov 2011

I was impressed with how well Microsoft present this product. The packaging is solid and good quality, the keyboard is in a slim branded box with a pull out internal box.
That holds the keyboard in a protective black fabric bag and the driver CDs and two duracell batteries. How often are duracells bundled with a product eh? Full marks!
The keyboard looks and feels great, although the glossy black finish has the usual fingerprint-magnet problem that to my mind should preclude the usage of the material but hey ...
The wireless USB plug is magnetically secured to the underside of the device, a nice touch but I prefer there to be no unnecessary magnets in the world as will you when you accidentally leave the keyboard sitting on your wallet full of credit cards overnight. The range is good and exactly what I needed. I'm running this with a Western Digital TV Live Hub with the plug in the rear USB socket and it works very well. I've had no problem with the much maligned integrated cursor key, it's easy to use, very easy.
An excellent product for use with devices like media players and as an emergency PC/laptop keyboard. Recommended.
There is a white version available if that suits you.

5.0 out of 5 stars WHY oh WHY?, 16 Nov 2011
This review is from: Robot, N° 6 : (Paperback)
Why is this not available in English?
I've had volumes 1 to 5 in English for years as they drip-fed out of 2 publishers and then they stopped.
I had this volume in my basket ready for checkout before I noticed the 'French' in the description!
PLEASE publish the next volumes of Robot in the UK and/or USA.
Sorry this isn't a real review but I'm hoping if people show enough interest then it might happen.

1.0 out of 5 stars Useless ..., 30 Oct 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I bought several packs of these adhesive pads having used a similar (white) product that I'd obtained from the USA years ago. The old product was superb, stuck posters to anything and didn't fail because of temperature changes. These new pads couldn't even hold the lightest poster I've ever stuck on a wall for more than a few hours (in combination with small amounts of blu-tack too). The poster was a gift, much appreciated by the recipient and damaged by the following day. These fixers do not work properly. They have virtually no adhesive capability (that's obvious from prodding them with a finger) and I would not recommend that you purchase them.

I'm currently copying files onto one of these cards using the supplied USB adaptor and I'm getting a transfer rate of 9.54 MB/s. Impressive!
Presuming it stays reliable then this is a bargain to say the least.

5.0 out of 5 stars Astonishing ... !, 25 Sep 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
We watched this film on Blu-Ray with vague interest at first because neither I nor my partner are huge MJ fans BUT ...
This is truly amazing. The scenes of Mr Jackson rehearsing show that he genuinely was a superb entertainer, technician and craftsman.
His dancing is exemplary, even compared to his backing dancers who are 30 years younger. His singing is spot on, especially when
he gets carried away and uses the full voice that he's trying to save until the real shows. The show itself would have been
staggeringly good. They were NOT cashing in as I expected, it would have been the show of the decade, one of the best ever in terms
of spectacle and performance. A lot of time, energy and finance had gone into the production and I can only imagine how sad and
disappointed those who were involved must feel at not being able to do it for real let alone losing their mentor.
Really, ths is seriously good. For anyone with an interest in dance, popular music or stage production this is a must. If you
like the music and performance of Michael Jackson then it is essential. The man went out on a true high.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazingly versatile., 5 Sep 2011
This is a small amp with a good selection of controls. It incorporates a chromatic (and specific) tuner, various amplifier simulators (digital), stereo phaser, flanger, chorus, reverb, delay and overdrive boost. It has a rhythm generator with multiple patterns, variations and a tap delay setting. It is built like a tank, runs off 6 AA batteries for over 12 hours (or the supplied AC adaptor) and sounds quite amazing for the size. As a practice amp it's unrivalled and can produce amazing feedback because of the high gain. It'll really drive pickups but at a low volume (if required). It'll also run reasonably loud, certainly enough for busking. This is a bargain and all electric guitar players should have one because of the battery powered portability and versatility. Love it.
