5.0 out of 5 stars Difficult transition of childhood to adulthood, 14 Oct. 2004
An important landmark in children's literature, The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, has as much significance today as it every did. The spiritual personification of Azlan as God is one of Lewis' deeper metaphores which resinates through all the Narnia series. The symbolic desensitisation of Peter, John, Susan, and Lucy is a perfect allegory for loss of innocence in the painfull transistion from childhood to adulthood... also really entertaining! Lewis really captures the imaginations of the magicaly spirited child psyche. TJ xxxxx

5.0 out of 5 stars Socialisation within a close-knit community, 14 Oct. 2004
Camberwick Green Volume 5 encompasses all the vital characters such as the baker, the owner of the windmill, the fireman, and the village folk, within a safe and loving environment. However, the plot is not afraid to venture into the dramatic and unknown introducing to children in an entertaining but informative way the goings on and horrors in ordinary life. EG. the burning building. the baker burning his hand etcetra. Having said that th show is educational, it can be viewed in a negative light in modern society, as the females are portrayed in a traditional was such as housewives, mothers, and shoppers. However, in my opinion, this is a positive thing as children can learn from this strictly unequal environment, the positives of our current liberal society. TJ GIRL POWER TJ.

5.0 out of 5 stars Six stars, and even that won't be enough!!!!, 14 Oct. 2004
This review is from: Funnybones (Paperback)
It's AMAZING! The dramatic plot twists are archetypal of the children's adventure genre. In short, IT ROCKS! I think this book will appeal to the child in all of us. A great way for kids to learn as it juxtaposes humour and biological science as it intergrates to bone structure. The dramatic irony of the mishaps of the midnight trip keeps the audience in suspense and anticipation as to the story's climax. The typical genre conventions such as the full moon, the dark dark house, and the dark dark street, are the epitome of child ghost stories. READ IT! TJ.
