As a user of G Data Anti Virus 2012 3 User, 1 Year License (PC)
and a happy one at that, I was looking forward to cracking in to GDATA's flagship 2013 software.
The user interface is pretty much identical to the 2012 line up, which is helpful for anyone migrating up. Also in terms of the deeper advanced settings, these will also be familiar to GDATA veteran. Although don't be swayed if you are a new user to them, everything is laid out quite nicely.
The built in backup feature is nice also, and is an improvement on windows backup, but can also be easily disabled. Also with the built in Tune-up facility, you can help to get rid of some of the rubbish on your PC to not only speed up use, but also scan speeds.
Speaking of scan speeds: the only thing I noticed is that compared to the 2012 software the AV in this package seemed to run a little slower. Not a major problem as you can change the settings to use only one engine (as this natively uses two) but I don't want to skimp on raw protection, for a bit extra raw speed.
Also good to know, after upgrading to Windows 8 it works fine with all Store apps (although after upgrading GDATA requires a quick update to be 100% compatible). On another computer with Kaspersky Internet Security 2013: 3 Users - 1 Year (PC)
all the store apps were blocked due to its Web Protection feature, and involved manually entering addresses to override. Not here, no interruptions at all.
This is a good, strong, easy to use Internet Protection package that not only professionals will appreciate... but also us lowly home users.
