5.0 out of 5 stars Remorseless menace and Machiavllian style. Simply excellent!, 13 July 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Of the recent 'adult range' of Doctor Who novels this is the best so far. There is a real sense of menace and foreboding that raises the hair on the back of the neck. The alien threat is creeping and remorseless, and the Master is at his machiavellian best. The plot is intricate, but gives one just enough hints for the reader to start making their own assumptions as to how it may all pan out. Geoffrey Beevers also makes a wonderful narrator, so all in all, I couldn't put this down. My only disappointment was finally reaching the end, because I didn't want it to stop. Simply excellent. More like this, please!

5.0 out of 5 stars Light Years Ahead, 15 May 2013
For me, this is by far the best Star Trek movie to date, and light years ahead of anything that has gone before. I won't spoil your enjoyment if you haven't seen it yet, but will say that it will keep you on the edge of your seat and surprise you, even if you've heard about the film's villian in advance. Both the story and the music soundtrack are better than the first in this new franchise, which I thought was brilliant, and I sincerely hope to see further movies in future, Considering this was not filmed in 3D, I have to say that the 3D version is excellent. Wait for the 3D Bluray release!

3.0 out of 5 stars A mixed bag, 16 Nov 2012

OK for the price. Clash was not originally made in 3D and was 'converted' to 3D later, so is a disappointment from that point of view, but it's still a good film. Wrath was filmed in 3D and is just an 'OK' film in my opinion.

Great film with brilliant 3D! In general, 3D Blu ray is still too expensive, but this is one of the better ones.

3.0 out of 5 stars Definitely not Star Wars despite the blurb on the packaging!, 7 July 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I bought this 3D movie without having seen it, and despite the reviews I'd read. It's OK, but too long, and the characters are two dimensional. I like the 'dog' though! If I had seen it on the cinema would I have purchased it? No; save your money for some thing better.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good future for historicals, 21 April 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I think this is Tom Baker's first truly historical Doctor Who, and hope it won't be his last. It's a big improvement on the previous story Renaisance Man, and also the first story in the new range not to be constrained by the two episode format. My only criticism is the frequency with which the Doctor refers to Leela as 'Savage'! Now for the much awaited Energy of the Daleks...

2.0 out of 5 stars The Retirement Man, 27 Mar 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
For me, this story was a big disappointment, and not as good as the prevoius release Destination Nerva. So far, the series remains constrained by the two episode format, and this story just didn't get off the gound. The episode one cliff hanger was a non-starter, and the story simply didn't keep my interest. Tom and Louise were fab though, as usual.

3.0 out of 5 stars In space nobody can hear you scream!, 19 Feb 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Not as good as the recent Fourth Doctor Box Set, but still not bad. I do have one big gripe however! The story is only two episodes long, so the format and pace is rather forced. Don't get me wrong; I really do welcome this new Fourth Doctor range, however if you were measuring value for money by minutes you might think these new audio plays expensive in comparison to the usual four episode stories of the other Doctors in the Big Finish range. I hope Big Finish will reconsider the format for future Fourth Doctor stories to allow for story development whilst keeping the price in line with other Doctor stories, so as not to take advantage of their customers. Looking forward to the next one though.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice series, shame about the features, 31 Dec 2011
I'm a life-long Who fan so love the series, but just think they're taking us for granted now with decreasing special features. Maybe the demise of 'Confidential' will force the DVD's producers to bring back commentaries for all episodes of the next series, preferably using Matt Smith and other main players, please!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent nostalgia, 13 Nov 2011

This is a must for Hartnell era fans. The three cast making up these audio plays are all wonderful; making it an easy to visualise experience. William Russell's impersonation of the First Doctor is also note worthy. Highly recommended.
