5.0 out of 5 stars The best phone of it's class, 14 May 2005
Outside of 3G and smartphones, this is easily the best phone on the market. The only other one that comes close is the Sony Ericsson K700i which itself is a very good phone, yet the Samsung outstrips it in terms of photo quality, screen, memory, it's design and ease of use. The screen in particular is very impressive, and crystal clear.
The Samsung is so incredibly intuitive and easy to use, you won't even need to look at the instruction manual. It locks itself when you slide it shut, and all the features are easy to find and self-explanatory. The camera features might be a bit confusing at first but a little experimentation goes a long way. The camera itself is definitely the best on any phone, and can produce photos up to a resolution of 1280 x 1024 pixels, the size of most computer screens (obviously you need a computer to view them on to see the full detail!) There's also a flash, night-mode and many other effects, and you can record videos.
Everything else you'd expect on a mobile phone is all present and correct, and you feel that Samsung have really gone to town on the tiniest of details - for example, while text messaging you ca easily switch between predictive text and normal and it's also very easy to insert special characters and do smileys, and you can insert several special characters at a time which you can't do on most other phones. This attention to detail is evident in every aspect of the phone - when you're in a menu, you can scroll left and right to other menus instead of backing up and going up and down. All the other features of the phone are pretty much standard but great nonetheless - MP3's (which you can use as ringtones, text alerts and alarms), Java games and apps, WAP, a calendar, Bluetooth, infrared, etc.
So are there any downsides? The battery life is a little short for my liking but considering the phone has it's own flash and is pretty loud too, I guess that's to be expected. I'd recommend that you take care of the battery though (make sure you charge it for a long time when you first get it, and let the battery discharge fully until it runs out before you charge it again.) The only other thing I can think of is the video quality, which isn't great and doesn't sound great either. Ok it's only a mobile, but even so I think the quality of videos could be better.
But overall, this is a fantastic phone to own!

5.0 out of 5 stars Untouchable (get it? Ha ha ha!), 7 Oct 2003
This review is from: Beautifulgarbage (Audio CD)
Have you ever heard an album which has such a diverse range of styles and yet still sounds consistent all the way through? If you haven't then you should buy this - and if you have, you should still buy it anyway!
Garbage's third album is a bit of a departure from their previous rock-based efforts but the Garbage sound is still as alluring as ever. Shirley Manson's voice has definitely grown stronger, and the band's willingness to experiment results in some stupendous songs. In between these, there lie some tender ballads and also a few of the noise-crescendo rock anthems left over from the previous albums.
Despite the eclectic nature of the album, every single track is crafted with skill and passion and it's very difficult to pick songs which stand out - every song is excellent in it's own way. Ask a group of people to pick a favourite track, and you'll get a wide variety of answers! For me, this is simply a truly unique album that everybody with an open mind should own.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wrestling doesn't get much better than this, 6 Oct 2003
Now approaching its 20th year, Wrestlemania is not only the biggest wrestling event on the calendar, but one of the biggest sports events in the world. This year, in front of 54,000 fans and a worldwide television audience, Limp Bizkit are in the house as the WWE superstars give us all the effort they can muster.
1. Matt Hardy with Shannon Moore vs. Rey Mysterio - **** (4 stars)
Right from Mysterio's opening corkscrew, this is a frantic and fast-paced opening match with lots to admire.
2. Undertaker & Nathan Jones vs. Big Show and A-Train - *** (3 stars)
Nothing special overall, but it wouldn't be Wrestlemania without The Undertaker (11 and counting!) and he carries this match well.
3. Victoria with Steven Richards vs. Trish Stratus vs. Jazz - ***1/2 (3 and a half stars)
The ladies of the WWE give it absolutely everything in this intense and unpredictable match - and it pays off.
4. Charlie Haas & Shelton Benjamin vs. Eddie & Chavo Guerrero vs. Chris Benoit & Rhyno - *** (3 stars)
Too many cooks spoil the broth in this match I think, but the quality of the wrestlers on show in this match shines through and keeps the match entertaining.
5. Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Jericho ****1/2 (4 and a half stars)
A terrific match performed very well by both contenders, who know a thing or two about performing to the crowd! Right from the start this match has 'epic' written all over it, and it doesn't disappoint. It's a shame the same can't be said for...
6. Triple H vs. Booker T ** (2 stars)
Somehow this match never really comes to life, and it's peaks are few and far between. The Seattle crowd seem to agree.
7. Hulk Hogan vs. Mr. McMahon **** (4 stars)
A brutal and entertaining street fight in which not even the commentators escape unscathed - and there's a few surprises in store too!
8. Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. The Rock **** (4 stars)
One of wrestlings greatest rivalries comes to an end in an intense (and surprisingly one-sided) match.
9. Kurt Angle vs. Brock Lesnar ****1/2 (4 and a half stars)
A truly unique main event with lots of amateur-style moves and holds applied by both competitors, and Brock Lesnar's attempted Shooting Star Press epitomises the effort and commitment of all the WWE stars.
So overall, although Wrestlemania XIX lacks a truly classic match, the workrate and effort of the wrestlers shines through and elevates the event into one of the best WWE shows of recent memory.

4.0 out of 5 stars One of the better WWE shows on DVD, 31 July 2003
Summerslam 2002 was memorable mainly for the final two matches, but overall the quality of wrestling on show is high and there's lots of entertainment to be had from this DVD if you're a wrestling fan. Here's the breakdown...
1. Rey Mysterio vs. Kurt Angle - **** (4 stars)
A fantastic and fast paced opener which would get the full five stars if only it had lasted longer! Great stuff.
2. Ric Flair vs. Chris Jericho - * (1 star)
Go get some food from the fridge while this match is on or skip past it completely - it really is that bad.
3. Edge vs. Eddie Guerrero - *** (3 stars)
A good match with several high points, although it is blatantly used to sell Edge to the fans as a face (good guy).
4. Lance Storm & Christian vs. Booker T and Goldust - *** (3 stars)
An unoriginal but entertaining tag team match with a surprise ending.
5. Chris Benoit vs. RVD - **** (4 stars)
A great match from two of the WWE's most talented wrestlers.
6. Undertaker vs. Test - ** (2 stars)
It's generally not good when the WWE gets patriotic, and it's an angle that certainly spoils this match. Thankfully, it doesn't last long and the match that follows it is...
7. Shawn Michaels vs. Triple H - ***** (5 stars)
A classic match, easily the best of the night, probably the best of 2002 and one you will want to see many times over. It's like being on a rollercoaster ride with some sick twists and turns, and lots of REAL blood. Worth buying the DVD for alone!
8. The Rock vs. Brock Lesnar - **** (4 stars)
A high-quality match with a fast and furious finish that establishes Brock as a main-event superstar and marks the start of a backlash by WWE fans against The Great One.
Extra features: ***1/2 stars
A good Smackdown! match between Brock and Hulk Hogan, a fascinating interview with Shawn Michaels, a behind-the-scenes look at the training of The Rock and Brock (Brock's in particular is very interesting, because he employs several unusual routines) and the usual post-match interviews and promos.
