5.0 out of 5 stars The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (Extended version) 3D Review, 1 Mar. 2015

I recently watched the extended version of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug in 3D. It was absolutely marvellous! The extra 25 minutes of 'never before seen' footage certainly helped to further exhilarate the plot. Peter Jackson's use of HFR or high frame rate (48 frames per second rather than the conventional 24), noticably enhanced the richness of the movie in 3D format. Although the movie ran just over 3 hours, it was so absorbing that when it finished, I felt that I could have watched a further 3 hours! One of the best movies I have seen in a while. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars 3D REVIEW, 3 Feb. 2015

I recently watched The Hobbit on my LG passive 3D TV. It was amazing. I saw the movie in standard blu-ray last year, but it certainly came alive in 3D. I found the colours more vibrant and rich, resulting in a more satisfying experience. I own over 20 3D movies, and this is one of the best in terms of showcasing 3D technology. Highly recommended.

1.0 out of 5 stars Far too many inaccuracies - A Hollywood version of the Bible, 4 Feb. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I found the use of creative licenses in The Bible TV mini-series far too excessive. Despite the assistance of a wide range of theologians and researchers, this project lacked accuracy in major areas. Examples are as follows:

1. The series practically re-writes Genesis Chapter 19. Hospitality is not extended to the visiting angels as in the text, and the angels are seen physically battling with the inhabitants of Sodom as opposed to blinding them.

2. In the episode featuring the binding of Isaac, a lamb has caught its leg. Genesis 22:13 clearly states that a ram was caught by its horns in a thicket.

3. Regarding King David’s affair with Bathsheba and the death of their first child, the series depicts David as indignant. However, scripture shows him to be remorseful of his sin and seeking God’s forgiveness (2 Samuel 12:13, Psalm 51).

4. This series managed to re-write Daniel 3! Although the actual Biblical text does NOT mention Daniel, episode 5 of the mini-series places him at the scene where he uncharacteristically encourages Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego to submit to the demands of King Nebuchadnezzar. They refuse and are tied up with a fire lit under them, as opposed to being thrown into a fury furnace as stated in Daniel 3.

5. During the event where Daniel was thrown into a lion’s den, the series featured King Cyrus. Daniel 6 clearly states that this incident centres round Daniel and King Darius.

Unfortunately, there are far too many inconsistencies and critical omissions to mention. As a Bible-reading Christian, it was impossible for me to gain any blessing from what was obviously a Hollywood version of the Bible. In a nutshell, if what is portrayed in The Bible mini-series is NOT in God’s written word, then it is NOT factual. Why did the producers (Roma Downey and Mark Burnett) resort to such a serious compromise? The question is, if they had chosen the religious text of Islam as their scripted project, would they have been as careless in its preparation … ABSOLUTELY NOT! Note to producers: when considering Bible projects, better to consult with God's Holy Spirit than with charlatans.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not a perfect fit!, 11 Sept. 2012

I have given the screen protectors a 3-star rating because a) they are good quality, and b) they are reasonably priced. However, they fall short of being awarded more 'stars' as they are several millimetres too long and therefore had to be cut to size!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A highly recommended memory card!, 16 April 2012
I was recently presented with a Samsung Galaxy Note SmartPhone and was eager to utilise its fantastic 5.3-inch high-def screen. Based on some great reviews and the amazing price, I opted for the Lexar 32gb class 10 Micro-SDHC card. I was very satisfied in the way in which the phone was able to gain easy access to movies, music and data in general without any lagging or delay from the card. This is the perfect card for anyone wanting to boost the memory of either a smartphone or tablet pc. I certainly plan to buy a couple more!

5.0 out of 5 stars Believe the hype!!!, 21 Mar. 2012
On a recent visit to PC World, I had the pleasure of sampling the £79.99 and £119.99 versions of 'Beats in-ear headphones by Dr Dre'. They are famed for delivering an an amazing listening experience, which I found to be very true. However, I had a 'tip-off' that JVC's Xtreme Xplosives (for a fraction of the price) was engineered to deliver a similar sound-isolating, crisp deep base performance. After reading the impressive reviews on the XX yesterday on the Amazon site, I decided to purchase a pair. A huge 'big-up' to Amazon Seller 'Megadeals UK' based on Tottenham Court Road for a next-day delivery! Considering that the earphones require a short settling period before its best performance can be realised, I found the sound quality absolutely amazing for under £20! It is better than Apple's official earphone and, although not equal to 'Beats', it certainly comes close. The bass is deep and rich without being overwhelming. There is vocal clarity and the instruments are recognisable, both resulting in a very pleasant experience indeed! The earphones are the most comfortable that I have ever worn and seems secure in the ear. It also appears to cancel out all background noise.

For an 'amazing listening experience' for just a few quid, I would certainly recommend these earphones - enjoy!
