3.0 out of 5 stars a tad over-rated, 13 Dec 2011

i bought this DVD, as i am a Studio Ghibli fan and i had heard great things about this film. however i was slightly underwhelmed, possibly because i had high expectations, but i just did not think it was on par with other Ghibli films like Howl's Moving Castle and Laputa.Yes the artwork was beautiful, the script dramatic and humourous and the relationship between San and Ashitaka was fascinating. but i thought the end was an anti-climax and the film felt choppy and oddly paced. Not my favourite but still good if you're a loyal Ghibli fan.

as a Spirited Away and Studio Ghibli fan i was very excited to watch this movie. it didn't disappoint. the characters have depth and humour, the concept is inspired, and the artwork is breathtaking. the story of love and war and magic in this film make's it a sure-fire hit with anyone. brilliant! on par with Spirited Away for sure :)

5.0 out of 5 stars majorly addictive., 3 Dec 2011
This review is from: The Hunger Games (Paperback)
This is the first book i have been inspired to read after watching a movie trailer (seriously if you haven't seen it - best trailer ever). But i digress, this is about the book. i could not put this book down. Everytime i tried, Collins would once again use a fantastic plot twist to draw me back in. This book has a love triangle much stronger than any flimsy wolf-vampire rivalry. Reading the blurb for this book you'd think Collins was a bit mad, but the concept is absolutely fascinating. I can't stop raving about this book to my friends! The imagery of a futuristic world, the strong narrative of Katniss and the fast pace of the novel combine to make one of the best adventure books i've ever read. I'm already on with the rest of the trilogy.

5.0 out of 5 stars weird and wonderful., 23 Nov 2011
this film is a masterpiece. studio ghibli are the masters of taking you to places you could never imagine in your wildest daydreams and making you fall in love with their characters. they expertly mix adventure, emotion, romance and fantasy in this epic film. it's amazing, i reccomend it to anyone, even if you've never seen an anime film you'll soon be watching this on loop, and if you like it, watch Spirited Away, it's made by the same people and it's equally awesome. buy!

5.0 out of 5 stars one of the best series i've seen in years., 27 Oct 2011

though they stay very true to the books, you don't need to have read them to see the epic scale of George R.R Martin's world. the programme is beautifully shot, brilliantly acted and full of drama, heartbreak, humour and stuff for adults only. i love how all the different character plots are completely seperate and yet easy to follow and the beauty of the sets and locations will blow you away. an amazing series, i seriously recommend it. if you're unsure if it's your thing, it's a mix of Lord of the Rings, Camelot and True Blood (so it's awesome), can't wait for Season 2 April 2012!

5.0 out of 5 stars Outrageously funny, 1 Oct 2011
This is a brilliant comedy series. The best part of this show has got to be Brendan's improv when people mess up lines or cues. it's had me crying my eyes out with laughter. If you love shows like Miranda, you will love this show!

5.0 out of 5 stars a fitting end., 18 April 2011

i have followed the alex rider books right to its conclusion. i must congragulate anthony horowitz on a fantastic end to a spectacular series of novels. Scorpia Rising is packed with emotion, heartache and action and unlike other series does not fizzle out but ends suitably and left me feeling satisfied as i closed it. its a shame to lose alex rider, but it is time to move on. a great read.
