Homemade Life: Stories and Recipes from My Kitchen Table
Homemade Life: Stories and Recipes from My Kitchen Table
by Molly Wizenberg
Edition: Paperback
Price: £9.98

4.0 out of 5 stars Personal, 5 Oct. 2011
The style in which Molly Wizenberg writes is very personal. I really got the feeling that I was able to take a look into her life. She makes you a part of it, if you want to or not. Personnaly, I consider it an honor. Especially the chapter about her father passing away is very moving. She also writes about her flaws and mistakes she made in the past, and for this I am thankfull, because she already looks so perfect. Thank you Molly, for showing us you are human. Thank you Molly, for this personal masterpiece.

3.0 out of 5 stars old fashioned, 23 Aug. 2011
It is a French movie, and was made a few decades ago. This means that the ambiance gets a grip on you. You can feel the heat of the French summer, and you feel like you are there.
It being an older movie, it moves slow, the story is not obvious, so you need to pay attention. This is hard sometimes, because you may be dreaming away...

4.0 out of 5 stars nice writing, 23 Aug. 2011
This review is from: The Slap (Paperback)
The story is divided into chapters that are written from different points of view. All are related to the slap that is given to a young boy one afternoon. This influences all the lives of the people who see it happen, and this is written beautifully. Some chapters, or point of view, are easier to follow or to relate to than others, but this is why the book is so brilliant. Towards the end I wanted to read more and more, and finished it in no time. I think it makes a nice gift.

The Hundred-Foot Journey
The Hundred-Foot Journey
by Richard C. Morais
Edition: Paperback

3.0 out of 5 stars Halfway surprising, 23 Aug. 2011
At first it was difficult to get through the story, it needs some warming up to it. Later on, halfway, it got interesting and easier to appreciate the writer's style.
The story in itself is beautiful and very inspiring.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not the book, 25 July 2011
The film is very different from the book. Not that I found that a pleasure to read (very long-winded) but I like books turned into movies where the movie represents the book somewhat... Here, this is not the case unfortunately. A small piece of the book (the love that the girl drives to look for her fiance) is turned into the main subject of the film. The film is beautifully shot and very true, but is does not resemble the book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good movie, 25 July 2011
This review is from: Coco Before Chanel [DVD] (DVD)
The film is good. It reflects perfectly the time in which she lived. Of course the play of Audry Tatou is again really good! I never knew anything about Coco Chanel, but now I do. The film is beautifully shot and true.

5.0 out of 5 stars Even better!, 25 July 2011
This cookbook is even better than her first one! Simple, easy to make recipes and a lot of personal notes, which I just love. She makes living healthier personal, and very very easy. Again in this book, as in the first, some basic information about products and what to make your standard cupboard items. I love it! No hard to get products, everything is easy and super delicious (because, let's face it, eating healthier is ok, but it needs to taste good!)...

4.0 out of 5 stars Something completely different, 18 July 2011
I love how she makes it so simple to cook and live healthier. The food tastes great and is really easy to make. Heidi understands that it is difficult to make sudden switches in your lifestyle and eases you into it. She states how much healthier you can live by making small changes in your eating pattern, and it really is! Not once she is pedantic, that's what I love about her! Photographs are great, recipes simple but tasty and simple tips to live healther.
