Not the greatest compilation ive ever bought, some of the tracks are decent but the recording quality is really abysmal at times! My first purchase in this series and because of the sound issues, it will probably be my last!

3.0 out of 5 stars Great music, but dont buy the vinyl version!, 4 Sept. 2013

Im gutted. Bought this album for Shaft In Africa but since amazon don't list the tracks I didn't realise both that number and Burning Spear are omitted from the vinyl version. The remaining music is great but still feel the compilers have left out the best two tunes! Just so you know what your buying!

1.0 out of 5 stars THE WORST SONY PRODUCT EVER!!, 8 April 2013
Im in complete agreement with the other reviewers here, these earphones are the worst ive ever bought. Im a massive fan of most Sony products but I think they should be ashamed bringing out crap like this. Will have to think twice about buying sony gear in future if this is what they're producing these days. Honestly avoid this rubbish, wish I could give zero stars!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great music, But!!, 15 Oct. 2012
Amazing tunes but cant believe on the CD version the record company have used Kenny Burrell's version of Chitlin Con Carne from his classic Midnight Blue album instead of John Patton's own version. Really stupid mistake!

5.0 out of 5 stars Like Nothing Else!, 31 May 2011
This review is from: Forever Changes (Audio CD)
I've had this wonderful record in my life for nearly thirty years and i still regard it as the best album i've ever heard. It's such a timeless recording and still has a mesmerising effect on me even after thousands of listens. There's no point, i dont think, in mentioning any particular tracks, the album must be taken as a whole to fully have that rollercoaster ride of emotions. It's almost impossible to categorize the sound on this album and all i can say is i would recommend Forever Changes to anyone who loves real music. God bless Arthur Lee!

5.0 out of 5 stars Mr Hancock would approve!, 22 May 2011

Fantastic live interpretation of some of Herbie Hancock's best loved music. The latin influence might put some jazz fans off from buying this cd, dont let it, honestly it's fantastic with great playing from all involved. If you like Herbie's 60's & early 70's output and fancy a different slant on his wonderful music, buy this, you wont be disappointed!

5.0 out of 5 stars Underappreciated Classic!, 18 Jan. 2011
This review is from: Oblique (Rvg Edition) (Audio CD)
A wonderful date from the magical Mr Hutcherson. I also regard this as his best Bluenote outing (which is some recommendation considering the quality of the rest of his 60's material). The music has a different feel as there are no horn's on the album, and it has a more relaxed and laidback feel, especially on the first two tracks, but to be honest i think it works perfectly. Pity Bluenote decided to change from the original cover that was issued in Japan, it's far superior!

5.0 out of 5 stars A THING OF BEAUTY!, 30 May 2008
This review is from: Speak Like a Child (Audio CD)
An underated album in Herbie's vast discography. In my opinion it's one of his most original recordings, with unusal instrumentation and a laid back feel it's simply sublime. The title track is one of my favourite pieces of all time and worth the purchase price alone. Listening to this wonderful record will take you to another place.
