iEC Universal Car Mount Holder for GPS, Smartphones- Black
iEC Universal Car Mount Holder for GPS, Smartphones- Black
Offered by EC Technology UK Store
Price: £15.99

5.0 out of 5 stars Simple and practical car mount., 7 Feb. 2016
The Universal Car Mount from iEC is a simple phone holder designed to work in cars by attaching to dashboard vents.
The mount comes in minimal packaging which is designed to be eco friendly - it is a simple cardboard box without user instructions although it is obvious by the design how it should be used.

The car mount is secured in place using a clip that attaches to any vent type e.g. horizontal, vertical or angled. Soft, over–moulded grips keep the mount in place as well as protecting your car from scratches. These rubber grips are easy to use and also ensure the mount is stable in the car and doesn't suffer from any of the wobble you get from cheaper vent holders. The grips act like a set of prongs - there are four in total separated by a small gap. If this is too tight for your car vents, rotate it through 90 degrees and the gap is larger to accommodate thicker vents.

The mount holds your phone magnetically. This magnetic base is covered in rubber to protect your device/case and features the iEC logo. The use of magnets may work with some phones without any additional help but for most, you will need some form of metallic element. Included in the package are two thin, metal plates. The rectangular one is designed to fit between your phone and a case. As an alternative, the round one has an adhesive backing and can be stuck to the rear of your phone.

The magnetic connection between the mount and metal plate is very strong and there is no chance of the phone dropping once in place, no matter how bumpy the road. Using a magnet means it is also easy to switch your phone between portrait or landscape orientation.

The universal car mount is great value for money as it is well made and very secure and stable when in place. It is a simple and convenient way to mount your phone on your dashboard when driving.

5.0 out of 5 stars Portable, well made charger which offers quick charging., 1 Feb. 2016
The Portable Power Pack is a rechargeable 5,200mAh battery unit that can then be used to charge a slave device connected to it via USB. Included in the package is the Power Bank, user manual, protective bag and a USB to micro USB cable for charging. You can obviously use any USB cable that is designed for your device.

Power banks usually come in one of two styles, larger capacity units able to charge a number of devices and smaller capacity units designed to be more portable. While not the smallest power bank I have used, this is still very much a portable unit and easily one of my favourites. It measures in at 96 x 44 x 22mm and weighs 120g which, with the hardened plastic finish and solid feel inspires confidence.

On top are 4 LEDs to signal current power capacity which are activated by the adjacent power button. On one end are both micro and normal USB ports and an LED torch. There is no supplied charger but the included cable or indeed any other micro USB cable can be used in connection with any USB source.

From a full charge, 5,200 mAh of portable power is on offer. While this doesn't sound like a lot, to put this in an IOS perspective, an iPhone 6s rated @ 1,715 mAh could be fully charged around three times. One thing I did note during my testing was that regardless of what device you are charging or even if you are recharging the power pack itself, it remained cool at all times with no sign of heating up. This is reassuring when it comes to portable devices and batteries. As this is rated as 2A output, it is capable of charging a variety of devices including tablets, smartphones and similar devices.

The reason I love this model so much is because it is a good size and feels great in the hand - the torch feature makes sense in a product that fits so well in the hand and the capacity is larger than many competing, albeit slightly smaller devices. The finish is one of a matt, velvety feel that is easy to grip and isn’t a fingerprint magnet.

For me, travelling with my usual compliment of gadgets makes a product like a power bank a sensible purchase. All my portable gadgets from phones, tablets, music player, ebook reader and camera can be charged via USB and having the ability to do this when away from a fixed power source gives real peace of mind. This power bank from EC Technology delivers a small but pocket-able power source at a great price point and is ideal for those with any portable device that may need a top up through the day or those that just want that extra peace of mind with fast charging as a bonus.

5.0 out of 5 stars My go to pair of Bluetooth Earphones for the gym., 22 Jan. 2016
These sports earphones are an in ear design coupled together by a short connecting cable. Included are the earphones, micro USB cable, cable tidy, user guide and five pairs of silicon tips. Build quality feels very good for the money - the plastic construction feels sturdy and provides a light feel which is important for a sports design.

The housings connected to each earphone are relatively small and house the majority of electronics leaving the cable free of any obstructions or components to weigh it down other than a slim line control unit with microphone. The earphones also feature sturdy but comfortable ear hooks to aid support during activities. The polymer lithium battery is rated for around 6 hours of playback and takes approximately 2 hours to recharge. The controls are easy to find and operate and some double up functions such as the + and - buttons which can be long pressed for track skipping instead of volume control. The multifunction button in the centre of this unit controls power, play / pause and call answering. The right ear piece contains the micro USB charging port, hidden away behind a small door for protection with the top side featuring a led indicator to indicate power and pairing status. The two earphones are connected by an audio cable that measures in at 58cm.
Bluetooth pairing is easy, simply turn them on by holding down the pairing button and they will enter pairing mode with no PIN required during my testing. They reconnect quickly when Bluetooth is turned back on after a period without use and they also feature power saving whereby they will turn off after a short period with no connection.

As always, I always recommend 'burning in' for a good 10 hours or more by leaving the earphones connected to an audio source with a variety of music. Dynamic drivers such as these typically sound a little different after this process and will give their final sound. In truth though, these did not change too much after burning in which is no bad thing as they already sounded very good out of the box - I was surprised how rich these sounded from the start.

They have a relatively deep but well defined bass with and a smooth midrange but the highs were not too pronounced and lack the sparkle you can get from higher end models. The middle of the audio range is well represented and blend in nicely with the rest of the audio range and vocals sound good too but things can start to sound a little muddy with a busy arrangement. These can best be described as warm sounding without any specific part of the range taking over. For the money, these actually sound very good and it is also great to see APT-X support for improved audio quality from compatible sources.

The control unit features a microphone with the multifunction button taking care of call answering/rejecting and call quality is as expected with calls coming in nice and clear and the caller also reporting clear audio on their end in my testing environment.
These are very comfortable to wear thanks to the flexible ear hooks and the tips on offer contribute to this as well as help isolate you from outside sounds. Not everything is blocked out but the vast majority is to make listening to quieter passages easy going and these are on a par with anything else I have tested. I actually prefer to be able to hear louder external noises when wearing earphones for safety reasons so would consider these a good choice for normal day to day use.

For the money, you are getting a good sports Bluetooth earphone. This is a respectable package from the audio and build quality to the additional ear tips and are well worth considering if you are on the lookout for a good quality and value for money pair of sports earphones.

Disclaimer - I received this sample for evaluation and a fair and unbiased review.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great value, highly portable power bank., 12 Jan. 2016

The Portable Power Pack is a rechargeable 2,400mAh battery unit that can then be used to charge a slave device connected to it via USB. Included in the package is the Power Bank, user manual and a USB to micro USB cable for charging. You can obviously use any USB cable that is designed for your device.
This is a very compact power bank; think of it like a bunch of credit cards stacked on top of each other. It measures in at 90 x 55 x 7mm and weighs 68g which, with the hardened plastic finish and fairly solid feel inspires confidence.
Cosmetically, this is an unusual design with a black and red finish and a SHINE logo emblazoned across the top. In one corner of the top surface are 4 LEDs to signal current power capacity with the adjacent end featuring both full sized and micro USB ports and power button. There is no supplied charger but the included cable or indeed any other micro USB cable can be used in connection with any USB source.
From a full charge, 2,400 mAh of portable power is on offer. While this doesn't sound like a lot, to put this in an IOS perspective, an iPhone 6s rated @ 1,715 mAh can be fully charged with extra to spare. One thing I did note during my testing was that regardless of what device you are charging or even if you are recharging the power pack itself, it remained cool at all times with no sign of heating up. This is reassuring when it comes to portable devices and batteries. As this is rated as 1A output, it is better suited to smartphones and similar devices such as earphones and not really up to the job of recharging an iPad or other high capacity device.
For me, travelling with my usual compliment of gadgets makes a product like a power bank a sensible purchase. All my portable gadgets from phones, tablets, music player, ebook reader and camera can be charged via USB and having the ability to do this when away from a fixed power source gives real peace of mind. This power bank from EC Technology delivers a small but pocket-able power source at a great price point and is ideal for those with a smartphone that struggles to make it through a full day or those that just want that extra peace of mind.

5.0 out of 5 stars Low cost but solid case for protecting your iPad mini., 9 Dec. 2015

The Ultra Slim Smart Case from EasyAcc is a folio style case for the iPad mini 4. It features a hard plastic rear shell and a faux leather front cover which is permanently attached. It isn't the slimmest of folio cases as that black plastic back adds an extra couple of mm's but in truth it is around the same size as the official case and cover combination and weighs in at 130g.
The rear shell wraps around the sides ensuring good protection. The case features all the requisite openings for access to lightning connector, speakers, microphones, volume buttons, camera, headphone port & power button.
The front cover is a synthetic leather material with a soft, interior lining and this sits on top of the screen. This cover is reinforced to offer protection to the screen and is constructed from 3 sections which allows it to fold up to act as a stand in exactly the same way as the official Apple case. This means only landscape orientation is supported but allows a steep angle for viewing or lower down when using the onscreen keyboard. The cover also supports auto sleep/wake if you have this enabled in settings and this worked perfectly every time.
While this doesn't offer the same protection as a full on rugged case, it is definitely a low cost way to add good protection for your iPad mini. This style of case is in abundance from a variety of stores but the subtle branding and packaging make this feel a more attractive purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars Portable, fast USB wall charger., 9 Dec. 2015
Anker 18W Quick Charge USB Wall Charger

This USB Charger from Anker is a single port, 18w / 2A USB wall charger that supports quick charge technology. Measuring in at 84 ◊ 51 ◊ 44mm and weighing just 82g, it's a very portable size for the frequent traveller.
Included in the package is the charger itself, a 90cm micro USB cable and a welcome guide.
I saw no issues in my testing - charging both an iPad Air 2 & iPad mini saw them replenish as quickly as I would expect if they were charging with their official unit.
This charger employs Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 Technology which promises a healthy boost in charging times for compatible devices however I never had any to hand to test this specific feature.
Circuitry also promises to avoid over charging or heating and this is reassuring. This wall charger performed its tasks while remaining completely cool to the touch at all times.
Build quality feels very solid and I am more than happy to use this as my go to charger when travelling and I think it is well priced for what it offers.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fine sound in a great value sports headphone package., 23 Nov. 2015
These sports earphones are an in ear design coupled together by a short connecting cable. Included are the earphones, micro USB cable, a well-illustrated user guide, two pairs of silicon tips and a storage bag. Build quality feels good for the money - the plastic construction feels sturdy and provides a light feel which is important for a sports design.

The housings connected to each earphone is over sized to house the electronics and controls leaving the cable free of any obstructions or components to weigh it down other than a slim line control unit with microphone. The 100mAh battery is rated for around 8 hours of playback and takes approximately 2 hours to recharge. The controls are easy to find and operate and some double up functions such as the + and - buttons which can be tapped for track skipping or held down to control volume. The multifunction button on the flip side of the control unit controls power, play / pause and call answering. The right ear piece contains the micro USB charging port, hidden away behind a small rubberised door for protection. The two earphones are connected by a flat audio cable that measures in at 50cm.

The shape of the actual ear housings seem a little strange at first but that is as much to do with the unique magnetic docking feature. This allows you to quickly snap the two ear pieces together when not being used to form a form of neckband keeping them safely on your person. This is a surprisingly handy feature when at the gym and saves you having to carefully balance them around your neck or left tangled up in a pocket.

Bluetooth pairing is easy, simply turn them on and they will enter pairing mode with no PIN required during my testing. They reconnect quickly when Bluetooth is turned back on after a period without use and they also feature power saving whereby they will turn off after a short period with no connection. There is a small LED on the control unit that displays the status of pairing and battery level.

As always, I always recommend 'burning in' for a good 10 hours or more by leaving the earphones connected to an audio source with a variety of music. Dynamic drivers such as these typically sound a little different after this process and will give their final sound. 5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent quality, highly portable power bank., 23 Nov. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The Classic Ultra Compact is a rechargeable 3,350mAh battery unit that can then be used to charge a slave device connected to it via USB. Included in the package is the Power Bank, user manual and a USB to micro USB cable for charging. You can obviously use any USB cable that is designed for your device.

This is a very compact power bank and its cylindrical shape makes it seem like an oversized lipstick. It measures in at 101x 24x 24mm and weighs 71g which with the thick, hardened plastic finish and solid feel inspires confidence.
One end features both full sized and micro USB ports with a power button and four LEDs adjacent on the barrel. There is no supplied charger but the included cable or indeed any other micro USB cable can be used in connection with any USB source.

From a full charge, 3,350 mAh of portable power is on offer. While this doesn't sound like a lot, to put this in an IOS perspective, an iPhone 6s rated @ 1,715 mAh could be fully charged almost twice. Charging a retina iPad is out with the scope of this product with its single 1A USB output but the earlier iPad mini would get a healthy shot in the arm when out and about, charging to around 2/3 full. One thing I did note during my testing was that regardless of what device you are charging or even if you are recharging the EasyAcc itself, it remained cool at all times with no sign of heating up. This is a reassuring surprise when it comes to portable devices and batteries.

The micro USB input for charging the power bank is rated for 2A which means a relatively short time to top this back up. The LED charge indicator is missing from a lot of similar compact chargers so this is a great addition providing a way of accurately telling how much charge remains.

For me, travelling with my usual compliment of gadgets makes a product like a power bank a sensible purchase. All my portable gadgets from phones, tablets, music player, ebook reader and camera can be charged via USB and having the ability to do this when away from a fixed power source gives real peace of mind. The EasyAcc delivers a small but pocket-able power source at a great price point and is ideal for those with a smartphone that struggles to make it through a full day.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simple, effective watch stand., 23 Nov. 2015
The Apple Watch Stand from EC Technology is exactly that, a stand designed for the watch that holds it at a useful angle and facilitates charging. Inside the box is the stand on its own without the need for any form of user guide.

This is manufactured mostly from aluminium, sitting 99mm tall and weighing in at 18g. The section that holds the watch and the charging is fashioned from a matt plastic to offer durability as well as protection to the watch. There are small padded feet on the bottom of the stand to ensure it remains safely in place on a smooth surface.

There is a gap in the stand to feed through the charging cable if desired although it would be nice if the cable could have in some way been more hidden. The watch end of the charging cable fits securely into the back of the section that holds the watch meaning the watch is both magnetically held in place and also charged.

It's a simple design which I like as it does one thing well and the aluminium construction gives it a quality feel over cheaper, plastic alternatives. Not everyone has the need for a stand for their gadgets but it can prove handy in certain circumstances and I like what this stand from EC Technology offers.
