5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliantly bright light bulb, 21 Nov 2014
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This is amazingly bright from the second you switch it on - very impressive, and firmly puts the eco bulb it replaces into the shade (sorry). I would definitely recommend this light bulb, but would note that it's relatively heavy - obviously so compared to an eco bulb or a traditional one - which would be worth bearing in mind if you're planning on using it in a delicate light fitting.

Hotpoint Slow Juicer, 400 Watt, Silver
Hotpoint Slow Juicer, 400 Watt, Silver

2.0 out of 5 stars Not the best, 8 Nov 2014
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
Slow juicing, I can get with. I like slow cooking, if a recipe says fry an onion for 20 minutes, I know I'm going to like cooking it from pan to plate. But this juicer takes the biscuit. For it to work - and granted it does, the juice it produces is smooth and relatively bit free - you have to spend an age preparing the fruit then spend a further age watching it work.

It's also bulky and difficult to store, so this won't be vying for space on my already crowded workspace. In my opinion, better models are available.

Happiness by Design: Finding Pleasure and Purpose in Everyday Life
Happiness by Design: Finding Pleasure and Purpose in Everyday Life
by Paul Dolan
Edition: Hardcover
Price: £11.00

4.0 out of 5 stars A pleasurable read full of purpose, 30 Oct 2014
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
An easy to read and insightful book (and presumably a favourite tome of Pharell's), I was drawn to this book from a cracking review in the Guardian a few months ago, and wasn't disappointed. There are no major revelations here - basically you need to balance doing things that give you pleasure with activities and actions that feel like they give you purpose. I won't parrot the content; if you're looking for an informed look at happiness and feeling like you could do with some choice (and evidenced) practical guidance, give this book a go.

Employer Brand Management: Practical Lessons from the World's Leading Employers
Employer Brand Management: Practical Lessons from the World's Leading Employers
by Richard Mosley
Edition: Hardcover
Price: £22.43

4.0 out of 5 stars A practical employer brand toolkit - heartily recommended., 24 Oct 2014
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
As someone who's role straddles ensuring a health functioning brand and a healthy functioning workforce, this was an interesting and well read book to read. Often with these types of 'manuals' I find that my early enthusiasm for the topic is dampened by shoddy writing or endless repetition of key themes. You don't get this with Richard Mosley, I like his concise style. I also appreciated the fact that this book wasn't choc-full of cool pictures and space fillers - this book is basically a go-to employer brand toolkit with a number of case studies and great examples from leading businesses.

Where I work we don't have fixed desks meaning locker space is at a premium, so the fact I've made space for this very practical book show how highly I rate it.

4.0 out of 5 stars works a treat., 24 Oct 2014
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This might sound a bit weird for such a simple tool, but I'd recommend reading the instructions before loading/using this stapler! It's got a rather peculiar loading mechanism, presumably to give the mechanism the necessary leverage to operate with the pressure of only one finger. But it does work a treat. You don't need a lot of pressure at all to work it, and I got through docs of 25-30 pages with ease.

On the negative side - it's feels a bit flimsy and plasticy, and it's light weight isn't particularly re-assuring, but 30% of it does come from recycled content, so that's a bonus if you're into that sort of thing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stonking wifi signal makes this a great purchase, 19 Oct 2014
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This router is simply superb. Having recently upgraded to fibre, I had already seen a huge increase in speed with my normal router, but what was astounding about the Nighthawk is how strong the Wireless is. In my setup with the Nighthawk in place, the wireless connection gave me a better download speed than running a cable directly from the router to the computer. I live in a three story house, with the main computer in the basement, and have never such a strong wifi signal across all floors, it really is brilliant.

Setup is a breeze - I had no problem connecting to desktop, laptop, tablet, phone and TV.

The USB slots allow you to access storage in your network, really useful for sharing photos, videos etc without having to transfer between machines.

Although this is very expensive, if you're continuing to have problems with wifi, I'd heartily recommend it.

This is a great addition to the TS staple, a really nice mapping of a very pretty line. I had no problems downloading this software using the download code (I already have a steam account) and was able to run other locos I had already purchased on the line too. The only problem I had on one of the scenarios was constantly missing a red signal!

Buyer beware that add-ons can be expensive, but it's usual to find at least a few on sale most weeks.

It's also worth noting - if you're buying this as a gift - this is a realistic simulator rather than a easy to play game - it can be quite frustrating for new users and takes a bit of time to get used to the controls.

4.0 out of 5 stars A lovely involving pinotage that I would heartily recommend., 15 Sep 2014
A robust, rich and full-bodied wine that's incredibly moorish, this pinotage ticks all the boxes. Subtle tannins and a lovely length results in the complex and intense flavours lingering long on the tongue. At the current price, this is great value, and I'll definitely be investing in a crate or two.

4.0 out of 5 stars This is a light-bodied sweet wine with a strong smell of gooseberry, 15 Sep 2014
This is a light-bodied sweet wine with a strong smell of gooseberry, peaches and melon. The acidity is just right, pulling you in, and inviting another quaff. The length is good, but the flavour isn't the most intense. A good wine at a reasonable price.

4.0 out of 5 stars Give it time, it'll blossom., 15 Sep 2014
This is a powerful, full-bodied wine with a spicy nose that takes a sip or two before it reveals its intensity. Nutty flavours with strong fruits, the tannin is obvious but not over-powering. This is one of those wines that takes a while to make it's impact. After the first few sips I was ready to make an early judgement that did not reflect too favourably, but it really grows on you, and I would definitely recommend this to all Pinot fans.
