SmoothSkin Gold 200 IPL Hair Removal System
SmoothSkin Gold 200 IPL Hair Removal System
Price: £249.00

4.0 out of 5 stars Working well, noticeable results., 5 Jun. 2016
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
After 6 weeks of use, this definitely seems to be giving tangible results. I have dark hair and light skin, and it's giving me a decent reduction in hair growth. Everyone is different of course, I would definitely recommend trying things out on a less sensitive skin area before jumping in and doing the lot... This is what I did, and after a week with no adverse reactions, became a bit braver.

The unit itself has a quality feel - to be expected given the price. In use, There is a very mild sensation when using it, best described as "a bit more than a tingle, but not overly uncomfortable". Why pay salon prices? this is a once off purchase that will pay for itself many times over...

Please note, not all skin and hair types are compatible, check the description before buying...

3.0 out of 5 stars Cheap as chips duplex colour laser printer., 5 Jun. 2016
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
Inexpensive, duplex colour leaser printer, with a 2 year European warranty, Wired and Wireless networking (and USB), 250 sheet feeder, and even an envelope feeder, what's not to like? It's a pretty good allrounder. So why only 3 stars?

Well, if this is what you want from a printer, then it's a fine choice, but things have moved on. There is no Google Cloud Print, for sending documents to your printer when not in the office (my similarly priced Samsung does this), there no one tap NFC print, it's quite big, heavy and noisy, the wifi only does 2.4Ghz, it has the feel of a printer that was a long time in development and missed the boat, and had a price-cut to stay relevant.

So that's the negatives out the way, there are some positives, print quality is very good, and it has a very solid feel to it. Setup was painless, even setting the wifi via the front panel, whilst a little tedious, worked first time, and I was up and running very quickly.

I would say this is a reasonable choice for a small home office printer, and it's amazing that they included duplex at this pricepoint, but otherwise, your feature expectations should be keep realistic.

Also it's worth investigation the price of toner, I did see you can get compatible toners to keep the cost down, but fitting genuine could be an expensive hobby. The standard toners are rated at 2000 pages for black, and 1600 pages for colour. However this printer is supplied with part filled toner rated at 1000 prints.

3.0 out of 5 stars clumsy setup but OK hardware., 4 Jun. 2016
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
Review Summary:
-------------------------
Not a perfect product by any means, it has some seriously weak areas in terms of setup complexity. However once it's setup, it does work decently, and so far, appears to work robustly.

Detailed Review:
------------------------

I have used quite a few brands of router over the years, ADSL and VDSL, and this particular product rates very poorly in terms of ease of setup. I know what I am doing, but even then, setup wasn't that straightward, it was clunky from the outset. This is the main reason it only gets 3 stars from me. This is a router for the US market, and it feels like it's been hastily re-packaged for the UK market (default timezone for example is US, and it even calls the UK, "England", which i'm sure will upset Scottish, Welsh and NI customers...). This is the only router I have ever used that needs a lenghy total reboot when changing settings during setup, it made the whole process drawn out and painful. For me, to get this to work on Plusnet Fibre connection, setup consisted of.

NOT using Quickstart Setup Wizard, changing "DSL Mode" to PTM. letting it reboot, logging in again, enable VLAN and set VLAN ID to 101. Change connection Type to PPOE, set your Plusnet DSL username and password and using "Plusnet" as the service name. Click Save at the bottom of the page, reboot. NOTE; Your Plusnet DSL username is NOT your email address!!! it will be something like. mickymouse@plusdsl.net

So yes, the setup is really really poor. However, as mentioned, once it's setup, it does seem to work robustly, and the wifi speeds are far better than routers that ISP's give out for free. It also supports more simultaneous connections, so will be a huge improvement for busy homes, where more and more devices use WiFI connections. It of course offers dual band (2.4Ghz and 5Ghz) connections, giving compatibility (for older legacy devices) and 5Ghz interference free connections for newer devices. It also supports AC beamforming which gives better coverage about the house. In my tests, it gave much better WiFi coverage than a bit homehub5 and a sagem plusnet WiFi router. All the wired ports (4x) are gigabit Ethernet too.

Other areas this router has a strong offering, there is easy to setup guest wifi (which restricts access to you local network, but still offers internet), and the parental controls are OK (clients, sites, weekend and school night schedules).

Overall. its not a bad router, once it's setup, but Linksys really need to look at how others handle setup. TPLink for example have a very good setup, and is tailored specifically to the UK market, and lists the settings for major UK ISPs. This router feels clumsy and basic in comparison.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
A little expensive I guess, but you do get alot of product in here, and it's all top quality stuff. I really like the smells, all subtly different but complementary. Would definitely be pleased to get this as a gift. IT's far far and away better than most smelly gift sets...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great gift set., 24 May 2016
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
Really like this, smells great, and not had any adverse reactions from the ingredients. My only minor complaint is that the hair style cream was only light hold, and didn't really have much "ommphh". But it did smell great, so not going to mark it down for that.

This would make a very nice gift for any man, bearded lumberjack or not...

4.0 out of 5 stars Good everyday lotion, 22 May 2016
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
I quite like this, but I can see that it's not for everyone. It's certainly effective, and from a reputable brand, you are going to get good protection from UVA and UVB. It goes into the skin very well, and doesn't feel greasy, it's also waterproof. All good so far.

Not sure about the aerosol however. It instantly means you can't take it in hand luggage, so if you are off for a sunny weekend, packing light, this won't fit the bill, it's hold luggage only. It also seems to be quite bulky for the amount it contains.

My opinion is that this is a great "at-home" everyday sun lotion, but I don't think it's that suitable for taking on holiday.

FLIR ONE Thermal Imaging Camera for Android Devices
FLIR ONE Thermal Imaging Camera for Android Devices
Price: £199.00

5.0 out of 5 stars Very impressed, 19 May 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Works very well indeed. Using the Android version. Works perfectly on my Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet, running the latest Android 6.01 Also worked on an older phone running Android 5.

Very impressed by ease of use, and accuracy. Got some specific tasks in mind for mine, but my initial impressions are very good indeed.

I guess a small word of warning. This is MicroUSB, and whilst many devices still use this, new devices are transitioning to USB Type C connectors (my phone, a Nexus 5x) has a Type C, so this isn't compatible. FLIR told my by support, that the small MicroUSB to Type C adapters work correctly, that that's worth investigating if you need this to work on a newer device.

AmazonBasics 6-Sheet High-Security Micro-Cut Paper and Credit Card Shredder
AmazonBasics 6-Sheet High-Security Micro-Cut Paper and Credit Card Shredder
Price: £45.99

4.0 out of 5 stars Review of 5-6 Sheet Cross Cut variant., 10 May 2016
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
Had a previous shredder that claimed to be 4 sheets and strugled with 2. This, however I am glad to say, did exactly as claimed. Gave it 6 sheets and it didn't have any problems at all. When you unpacked this, it instantly felt surprisingly heavy duty for the asking price. The bin is pretty large and has a see-thru panel to see when it's getting full.

Seems to be a great addition to the Amazon basics range. No frills, but good performance and good price.

Recommended.
