5.0 out of 5 stars An incredible series just got better...., 27 Feb. 2014

I’m reading this series for the first time and it just keeps getting better and better.

It’s a captivating, addictive and imaginative series and ,although a slow burner at times, it never fails to disappoint.

Volume 5 is slightly smaller than the previous volumes but the story itself is fantastic.

It follows Boy Blues journey across the Homelands to face the mighty Adversary and plenty is revealed in a twist you definitely won’t see coming.

It’s an action packed volume and the artwork within is as glorious as ever.

I’ve immediately snapped up the Deluxe volume 6 and it’s worth noting that volume 5 also leads straight into the “Jack of Fables” miniseries (I’ve added this to my wishlist!).

4.0 out of 5 stars Fall down the rabbit hole like you'd never imagined it..., 7 Jan. 2014

As of Jan 2014 Fables is currently approaching the end of it's run and if you've missed out then the Deluxe editions are the perfect way to catch up. The hardback deluxe volumes are beutifully presented and a perfect collection for any comic book reader.

Volume one took a little time for me to adjust to but what follows is one of the most addictive series availble and I was left excitedly awaiting the next volume. It presents a solid introduction to the hidden world of fables, fairy tales and imaginative creatures living in secret from a NYC neighbourhood. The book struggles to introduce it's huge cast in it's first volume but sets up a nice starting point and explains the exact nature of the world of fables quite easily.

Fables really comes to life with Deluxe volume two and I'd definiltey recommend the series to anybody looking for a new fix.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fantastic journey with artwork to die for., 7 Jan. 2014

Saga is intriguing, exciting, gritty and gorgeous.

A compelling story of instantly relateable characters set in an imaginative Universe created by the excellent Brian K Vaughn & the fantastic Fiona Staples.

The realistic nature of the story is all the more fascinating considering it's set across an entire galaxy of alien planets and lifeforms but not once do we feel homesick.

Like it's narator , Hazel, this series is still only a baby but expect big things to come from it.

Spider-Man: Lizard - No Turning Back (Amazing Spider-Man)
Spider-Man: Lizard - No Turning Back (Amazing Spider-Man)
by Dan Slott
Edition: Paperback
Price: £12.99

4.0 out of 5 stars Dan Slott has taken Spidermans stale cast and spun webs of wonder!, 16 May 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Dan Slott's run on the Amazing Spiderman has the cast reaching new heights and perfects some of the villains who have more recently become un-inreresting. The excellent character development that we saw in the Lizards previous appearence (the excellent gauntlet story "Shed") is re-visited her and it does not dissapoint. The Lizard is so suddenly more than just a raging reptile and we see deep into his pysche. The artwork is of an aquired taste for sure and the Lizards new look might need to grow on me but overall the story here is fat superior.
