101 Great Youth Soccer Drills: Skills and Drills for Better Fundamental Play
101 Great Youth Soccer Drills: Skills and Drills for Better Fundamental Play
by Robert Koger
Edition: Paperback
Price: £14.99

2.0 out of 5 stars coaches of all levels avoid this book !, 8 Mar. 2012
The drills are really confusing, even to more experienced coaches than myself that I've shown them to. One to avoid in my opinion.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent drills for coaches of level 1 or higher, 8 Mar. 2012
The drills in this book, like those in all of Michael Beale's books, are well laid out and easy to understand. I feel they are a bit complex for under-7 & 8 age groups, or for coaches that have not yet obtained their level 1 badge, but I recommend this book to any coach of level 1 or higher, who is coaching players of under-9 or older.

A great partner to this book which I also recommend is Michael Beale's "Soccer Academy: 100 Defending Practices and Small Sided Games"

5.0 out of 5 stars a must-read for new coaches, 8 Mar. 2012
This is a great book. If, like me, you got into football coaching by being a touchline parent helping out at training and matches for your sons football team, and you are now looking to get more involved and take your FA Level 1 badge and / or coach a team, then this book is a must-read. Even though it's not packed with loads of drills like other books are, it goes into more detail of other areas that aren't covered by those books.

Other books I can recommend to for essential reading after this one are "Coaching the Coach: A Complete Guide How to Coach Soccer Skills Through Drills" and "Coaching Mini Soccer: A Tried and Tested Program of Essential Skills and Drills for 5 to 10 Year Olds" (both by Richard Seedhouse) and then "Soccer Academy: 100 Defending Practices and Small Sided Games" and "The Soccer Academy: 140 Overload Games and Finishing Practices" (both by Michael Beale).

I recommend you read "Coaching the Coach: A Complete Guide How to Coach Soccer Skills Through Drills" (also by Richard Seedhouse) prior to reading this, and you will soon gain enough knowledge and confidence take training sessions yourself and to pass your level 1 course.

Other books I can recommend to read after these two are "Coaching Junior Football Teams For Dummies", and "Soccer Academy: 100 Defending Practices and Small Sided Games" and "The Soccer Academy: 140 Overload Games and Finishing Practices" (both by Michael Beale).
