4.0 out of 5 stars A nice easy read, 16 May 2014

I have read quite a bit about the famine in Irland. This book does not give much detail about the famine itself. It is more of a love story with the added history of what happened to the families in Irland at that time. I found it a nice easy read. The sort of book I can pick up and put down without losing the thread of the story. A great book to take on a plane.

Bit long for such a short story didn't find it as gripping as I thought it would be
Not the sort of book I would keep on my kindle.

It's ok as a short story book something to go to sleep by. Just the same old stories rehashed but then what did I expect

Started ok but by the middle I could predict the ending. I also knew that dear old Arnie would still be alive. No more Arnie stories please.

Love the insight he has into the despair of someone who has lost everything and is living on the streets. The Christmas ones are such a treat. Mushroom is so true. I would have no qualms about buying this book it's an absolute treasure to be read again and again.

This book is far too long I skipped through the chapters. Parts were good but it went on forever in the brothel and market going over the same information. I kept at it hoping it would impact but no. Boring and predictable don't read it even if it is tree

Too short I wanted to know more about the characters. Madia would have been an interesting person to have enlarged on. For all that I enjoyed the book.

Good read well written characters ended too abruptly. Could have done with a bit more explanation about the murders. I would recommend it to you. I shall look out for her next book.

Not as good as the reviews led me to believe. I found it too repetitive and the German so unbelievable.
