Confit de Canard - Duck Confit (2 Legs)
Confit de Canard - Duck Confit (2 Legs)
Price: 10.99

4.0 out of 5 stars A Nice Duck Confit, 14 April 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The two legs of duck were a good size with good flavour and the duck fat surrounding the duck was excellent for producing some delicious roast potatoes. I have had better but this is worth the price as an occasional treat.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Wrist Brace at a Very Competitive Price, 23 Aug 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is a well designed wrist brace which is as good as similar products costing twice as much. It replaces one of the more expensive products I have used for some time and in every respect as good or better. I also like the beige colour which is more attractive than the black or jazzy coloured products others offer and it washes a treat.

5.0 out of 5 stars At last a Clear Explanation and Assessment of the New NHS, 23 Aug 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is an important contribution to understanding the complex restructuring of our NHS which came into full operation on 1 April this year. It is very nicely printed, accessible and easy to read. The contributors whether academics or involved directly in the NHS know their subjects well. Some critics have objected to its approach, arguing it is a polemic based on a left wing ideological stance but although all the contributions offer a critical assessment of the new NHS, they are careful make it evidence based and rationally argued. I know of no other single source which offers such a comprehensive overview of what's happening to the NHS and how it affects all of us as users.

4.0 out of 5 stars Simple and Effective, 23 Aug 2013

This inexpensive tester is easy to use and works well - it is an ideal addition to an electrics bits and pieces box in any home. There are plenty of more complex socket testers - see Amazon - but for the ordinary householder this does the job.

4.0 out of 5 stars Dexter Still Good, 2 Aug 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Dexter - Season 7 [DVD] (DVD)
Dexter has been an outstanding TV series. Some have argued that series 7 is not quite up to the standards of previous series and I would agree - the brilliant script writing has lost some of its sparkle and inventiveness but it's still high quality TV. The acting is as good as ever with wonderful ensemble acting reflecting all the time the lead actors have worked together. The new characters in this series are equally impressively performed. It's a pity there is only one more series to go and viewers will lose this gem of a series but all good things etc..

2.0 out of 5 stars Mason Pizza Stone from Amazon, 3 July 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The Mason stone was purchased to replace a metal pizza plate with holes which had worn out after a lot of use. I followed all the elaborate instructions to the letter for preparing the stone for use and since have attempted over several weeks to get good results. I used Jamie Oliver's dough recipe and 'OO' flour for the last few attempts. It also took a bit of time to learn how to slide the pizza onto the heated stone without losing some of the topping but eventually got it right. But despite all the effort, I never got a really satisfactory result. The main problem was that the base never cooked through properly - it was always doughy and difficult to cut or chew.

I have gone back to a the metal plate with holes which is so much easier to use - the dough, for instance, can be spread on to the metal plate early and covered to let the dough rise and the topping added just before baking. It's then simply placed in to the already hot oven. The result is excellent. So my virdict is that the Mason stone does not produce good results and a cheaper alternative is much more effective.

1.0 out of 5 stars Unblocker Unblocks, 3 April 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I bought this product through Amazon some time ago and have attempted to use it several times but have never made it work. Part of the problem is that it is very poorly made. It needs to build up air pressure to be effective but the air slips out of the top as you press the plunger so you cannot build up enough pressure. Nor will fit over the plug holes in my house securely so, again, air simply escapes and it never builds up the pressure needed to unblock. On the other hand, my traditional 'bell' plunger on a stick does work - not always well or needs repeated plunges which can be hard work for an elderly person (that's why I was tempted by MS138). Sometimes the original/traditional design is difficult to beat without engineering something which will cost a lot more.

It's so cheap I did not ask for my money back but having come across it again in the back of a cupboard, I thought I would warn others not to waste their money or time.

Spear & Jackson - Razorsharp Adjustable Bypass Secateur
Spear & Jackson - Razorsharp Adjustable Bypass Secateur
Price: 11.95

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Secateurs Ever, 10 Sep 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
These are really excellent secateurs. Purchased through Amazon, I bought them for my wife, a keen gardener who has always had problems with secateurs because she has quite small hands. Most secateurs are just too big to grip for her to use comfortably. More recently, her hands have stiffened with age which has added to her problems. Searching for some new ones, we came accross the Spear and Jackson product in reviews in gardening magazines and were particularly impressed by Which? making them a best buy. Having used them for some weeks, she finds them first rate. They are adjustable for small hands, have a smooth and not too demanding action. They are not too heavy and feel well made. Perhaps they might be too brightly coloured for some but secatuers are frequently put down between uses so being brightly coloured is a help in spotting where you have put them when you need them again. Overall, highly recommended.

The Very Best of Fleetwood Mac
The Very Best of Fleetwood Mac
Price: 8.75

4.0 out of 5 stars The Very Best of Fleetwood Mac, 12 July 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This two disk, 'very best of' collection contains over 30 well chosen Fleetwood Mac tracks with hardly a duff one among them. Anybody who has liked their music will be pleased with this compilation. The music is an excellent mix of outstanding vocals alongside with some first rate instrumentals (especially the guitars) and arrangements. One big plus is the wide range of the content which shows what the band could do and how talented the members were as writers and players. The tracks date from the group's second 'life' from the mid - 1970s onwards and the sound quality is a bit uneven with some tracks having a bit of a harsh sound. If you play your CDs on budget level equipment this may be less noticable but if you are picky about sound quality, you may be disappointed by some tracks. But, overall, this is very likeable collection which will bring back fond memories to those who have not listened to Fleetwood Mac for some time and will please those who want to find out about this classic group and their major contributions to 70's onwards popular music. The notes accompanying the CDs are informative and well produced.

4.0 out of 5 stars Transcend 4GB Flash Drive, 12 July 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is a good value for money, easy to use flash drive. It looks nice (if that matters) with a black, shiny piano style finish and a tiny blue indicator light to show it is active. As usual with flash drives of this kind, the maker includes a lot of self-advertising - here it is more than most but it's easy to get rid of. The transfer speed is good for my purposes - archiving and backing up Word docs - but I have not tested the stick for any other purpose or for transfers of large amounts of data/content. Other purchasers have mentioned that the dust cap is not quite secure when clicked on and this might be a problem if the stick is likely to be carried around a lot but for desk use this is no real problem. Overall, recommended as a good value, functional product.
