5.0 out of 5 stars Great book! Worth buying for the Charlie Faulkner anecdotes alone!, 28 Jun. 2014

From start to finish, this book gives an honest and very humorous account of Spike's many adventures. Having grown up in a small welsh mining village I can relate to the book and many of the characters it contains, but this is a book for any rugby fan. He speaks of a bygone age where rugby was amateur and rivalries run deep, and I am sure his stories would be familiar to rugby clubs the world over, (well some of them anyway) but what is different is the Spikey Watkins Treatment. His very funny perspective and Charlie Faulkner anecdotes had me crying with laughter almost from the outset. Having watch you play as a youngster, it was great to get behind the myth and get a glimpse of the man! Also glad to see that there was a happy ending, both with your welsh career and also in life!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow, great book I couldn't put it down. This is a book to savour., 28 Jun. 2014

If you are a sports fan from any era you will enjoy this book.
Rhodri Davies has crafted a wonderful tale of sporting hardship in adversity. His understanding of the game of rugby, his ability to get close to the players and ask the right questions, and his encyclopaedic knowledge of the many historical, social and political factors which must be considered, help frame this tour perfectly. What is special is that the author does not offer a perception or point of view, but lets the players and the facts speak for themselves.
Rhodri Davies is to be congratulated for writing a book which is committed to telling the story of that magical tour, and in doing so has done justice in equal measure to each and every one of those very special rugby men.
Thank you Rhodri Davies, this is the best (belated) Fathers Day present I could have bought for my own dad or indeed received!

5.0 out of 5 stars Must read for school leaders and classroom teachers alike,, 30 Dec. 2013

A great book, written by @ictevagelist, a very well regarded leader within digital learning, whose following on twitter speaks for itself! The text is accessible, with lots of helpful advice for classroom teachers to integrate ICT meaningfully within teaching and learning, but also it is very clearly written to help schools develop both provision and practice in ICT. Glad I bought it!
