I ordered with some trepidation, wondering if I'd get something that worked! No worries, as it turned out. Make sure you have run the Microsoft checks (free on their website) first to ensure you know where any problems are likely to occur, and print off their check-list as if you DO have problems you may not be able to look on-line! Actually I had no problems at all doing a clean install over XP and getting it up and running. One problem only - nothing to do with what is supplied - was that I found the on-board speakers wouldn't work afterwards. It seems Windows 7 (and probably Windows 8) hasn't got the required drivers fro many IBM computers. I wouldn't bother trawling internet forums, there doesn't seem to be a guaranteed and risk free solution out there. Plug in a set of headphones or use free-standing speakers as the output jack still works fine; better sound quality anyway. I've no connection with this supplier other than as a satisfied customer, and I'd recommend them for rapid and reliable service with a disc that works fine.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you only read one book, make it this one., 28 Dec 2013

I met Denis by chance, just before Christmas (2013) when visiting Buxton's Cavendish Hospital. We talked and I heard a little about his story and his book. I couldn't wait to order it on my Kindle and spent the holiday riveted by the events unfolding throughout. The 5 star rating is described as "I love it" - perhaps NOT the words I would use. It's not a comfortable tale, nor is it meant to be, but Michael Gove should put it on the national syllabus as "required reading". My wife often asks "do you have to get involved?" when I take up a metaphorical cudgel in yet another debate - but as Denis puts it, succinctly; if those who know what is right do nothing, the bad will take over. "It could happen here". A truth I've often felt myself, especially when one considers the influence of the fascist movements in Britain and France before the war and the behaviour of the French police under the Vichy regime, True to this conviction and despite his appalling treatment, Denis appears not to hate Germans - he says he is "indifferent" to them. I have good friends in Germany, and the knowledge of just how similar we are as a people leaves one wondering...

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent tale -as far as it goes!, 10 Oct 2011
This is a really good tale - well researched, crafted and told. I read all three in the series, one straight after another; and therein lies it's main (only?) failing. As has been remarked elsewhere, this saga is not three books, rather one book with possibly three (or two) segments. I read it in Kindle form, so it's hard to judge accurately, but I'd reckon that if printed on paper in similar typeface and font size this would be well less than (say) Rutherford's seminal "Sarum" in size. A bit of a modern con, really, and one that is not uncommon these days - but a rather extreme example.

Still, I did enjoy the series for all that..... Roll on the next episodes, let's just hope they're a bit longer!

1.0 out of 5 stars Cheap but not cheerful!, 15 Jun 2011
The price tells you all you need to know. These are dreadful. You can't avoid bubbles, they spoil the view of the screen and they fall off quickly (which is probably the best point about them!).

These wire brushes are excellent value, much better quality and price than available in DIY stores or hardware shops. A really effective tool for removing rust, old paint, etc though you will need a heavy duty grinder to power and control such a large brush.

Sword Song
Sword Song
by Bernard Cornwell
Edition: Hardcover

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb!, 2 Feb 2009
This review is from: Sword Song (Hardcover)
What can I say? Can Bernard Cornwell put a foot wrong? Yet another superb novel from the master of historical fiction. Fast-paced and rip-roaring action, but maintaining Cornwell's usual eye for detail and historical accuracy. Our Dark Age hero continues to hack his way through the King's enemies, despite his reluctant allegiance to a man he sees as sanctimonious and an unworthy monarch - and his own secret (sometimes, none too secret!) adherence to the Old Gods.

This adaptor does exactly "what it says on the box". Works fine with my Kodak Z1285 camera (a power-hungry beast!)to save batteries when uploading or when taking close-up photos indoors. A lot cheaper than the branded article! And good, quick service from abc products too!

5.0 out of 5 stars A gem of a book!, 2 Feb 2009
Iain Gale has chosen an interesting but little covered era from British military history to introduce us to Lieutenant Jack Steel. Son of an impoverished Scots gentleman farmer, Jack is quick to take insult to his honour but has found his calling in Marlborough's new, professional army. In the mould of Cornwell's Sharpe, he is supported by a tough Geordie sergeant, the aptly named Jacob Slaughter. A rattling good tale of the battle of Blenheim, with an eye for period detail. Steel seems set to rise with Marlborough's fortunes as the series develops. Won't disappoint the afficionado of historical military fiction.

3.0 out of 5 stars A real curate's egg!, 8 Dec 2008
Soldier of Rome: The Legionary:A Novel of the Twentieth Legion During the Campaigns of Germanicus Caesar
Definitely good in parts - the tale is a rattling good yarn, well thought through and researched. Pity that the grammatical construction is so clumsy that at times it's hard to fathom the meaning of passages! The phrasing (even making allowance for US differences)is strange, to say the least; it spoiled my enjoyment of the book. Mr Mace needs a good proof-reader.
