Room with a view - revisited, 20 Mar 2009
Ever since I saw this movie at its premiere in 1986 (or was it in '87?) I have enjoyed watching it on VHS, DVD, and now Bluray.
There is no doubt about it - the scenery is so fantastic, that it is most welcome in HD-format, the view over Firenze for one or the beautiful meadow with all its fresh flowers and the two women gossiping right in the middle.
So far I have not had a chance to compare the music with the different formats, but I am looking forward to trying it out.
This means lots of credits to technology - in this case Bluray - and when presented on a 40" flat screen, then it is almost like being back in 1986 in the theatre enjoying the finest art.
I still do not understand, why the fotographer Tony Pierce-Roberts was not awarded an Oscar for his imaginative contribution ...
