5.0 out of 5 stars 3*?? Really?, 4 Aug 2012
This review is from: Barbed Wire Kisses (Audio CD)
Okay, so this is a compilation and not a rounded studio album. I'll also concede that there's a lot of crazy stuff on there. BUT there are some total gems that make this album well worth looking at. Two next to each other that come to mind are "Swing" and the Demo of "on the wall" - far better than the other version in my view. I have actually owned this since it came out and have listened to it a good deal more than Psychocandy or Darklands.

4.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for fans / ideas for photographers, 22 Dec 2011
I really enjoyed this book and was recommended it from a respected member of the photographic community after starting a photography project covering the UK retro dance scene. The pictures are great, well executed and use a mixture of techniques - it takes an unusually comprehensive view (it covers, dancing, characters involved, venues, aspects of the international crowd and is an examination of a single sub-culture), the techniques Shaylor employs produce some stunning images often in low light environments. I regard this as a keepsake for lovers of rock and roll / Rockabillys old and new, a good reference of what's possible for event photographers and a wonderful holistic view of a scene.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good - but packaged badly, 9 May 2010
I bought this alarm on the advice of british gas when they serviced my boiler, it arrived quickly to my work and i stripped it of its packaging to take it home. When i got there i found the way it had been packed had crushed on of the battery contacts so i had to put a lump of solder to stop it going off randomly. (as i didn't have the pack to return it). Its a shame as i have a Kidde smoke alarm and thats brilliant. If that hadn't happened it would have been 5 stars!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, 17 Sep 2009
I would highly recommend this book - especially to photographers and designers - as a graphic designer for over seven years this gave me a good deal of insight to black and white conversion techniques in photoshop which in turn leads to a greater understanding of photoshop as a whole. How colour filters work, achieving and controlling depth and contrast in your black and white photos and sharpness techniques were especially useful. Although most techniques are advanced (in terms of there's plenty more to learn first) Its step-by-step so i think anyone interested who has photoshop would find this useful.
