An entertaining and sharp read. We all know a man with a hobby that envelopes him and this story does just that for reader and character alike.

Recommended for all those ladies who wonder what their "man" is doing in his shed, basement or garage/workshop and for those men who may see a little of themselves in the character!

A great little album. As always with Landes it's "fun", "varied" and somewhat "addictive." I like the production and, at times, spartan arrangements which allow every instrument to shine through. Hard to pigeon hole, but I really recommend it. "Tired of this life" is a plaintive, melodic strum along which seems to suggest Appalachian mountains? "Picture Show" is a low fi treat and I love the odd instrumentation on some tracks, "Goodnight Lover" for example has a very old school feel, almost a "bontempi" organ accompaniment, if you know what I mean! Overall the simplicity belies the overall effect of this captivating album.

4.0 out of 5 stars Golden age of Ritter!, 16 May 2011
This review is from: The Golden Age Of Radio (Audio CD)
Different, but the same!

This is an album to put on and enjoy immediately, but also to be savoured over time. It doesn't take many listens to get wrapped up in the fun, passion and verve of tracks such as Me and Jiggs. On the other hand there are some pretty deep veins being mined in tracks such as Harrisburg. Ritter is a great songwriter both lyrically involving and musically adept.

Having said that the songs are immediate and grab you they also reveal depth with time. It's interesting to re-visit this album after listening to some of Ritter's more recent releases. Themes crop up time and time again as might be expected. Railroads, boats and a rich tapestry of American Landscapes become more and more apparent. So those people who love making connections and just becoming immersed in the people and places mentioned won't be disappointed.

Overall fans of Ritter will love this, new listeners may feel it's similar to other artists they know, but keep going and you'll become part of the magic. Then you'll want to see him live and then.........................

5.0 out of 5 stars Stone the Crowes it's hot, 21 May 2010
Superb. Rootsy and mellow at times but ballsy when it wants to be. This is a great listening experience for mellow, sunny days or happy times! Varied and eclectic. I agree with other reviews that it would be nice to have both albums on CD, but probably not an issue for the download generation A far cry from the full on "Twice as hard" days, but an aural pleasure never the less.

Bought this for the great track "Greenback Dollar". Be warned this is a live album. (Doesn't say this anywhere.) Great songs but sounds like a one mic job. Crowd are loud at times and spoilt Greenback dollar! Returned. No stars!

Great tunes, pretty good sound. (Not as many tunes as I was hoping I have memories of this on video and it seemed longer!)I wish Jump was on it.

But it still rocks a fat one.Guitar work is awesome, bass solo ok and drums worth a look!

1.0 out of 5 stars Mirror Mirror on the wall.........., 27 Jun 2008
There is some merit to this product, but only if you are a Daily Mirror reader. Yes, all the articles are from that paper and that paper only. I think there is a case for false advertising here as the term "Historic Newspapers" seems to suggest more than one newspaper will be represented!

So Watch out. It's fairly pricey for a potted history through only one viewpoint. I was expecting a variety of angles through broadsheets, red-tops etc.

Be Warned for Die Hard mirror readers only.

Simple enough, this is the worst game ever. Not interesting, not innovative and I am not going to carry on.
