This was great! Factual, entertaining and informative. The photos were an added bonus!

5.0 out of 5 stars A great read!, 7 Sep 2014

A lovely read! Polly is an endearing and sympathetic character, and I found myself cheering her on right to the end of the story. The setting is excellent (even if Polly herself has to overcome her struggles with being afloat) with all the atmosphere and drama of events taking place beside the sea. There's lots of colour and some memorable secondary characters to enjoy, too. Recommended reading, especially if you like problems overcome and a satisfactory happy ending!

5.0 out of 5 stars Just right for a good read!, 7 Sep 2014

This book has everything - wonderful characters, a heat-soaked setting, boats, drama, an endearing small boy and villains who make you wonder what the world is coming to. Everything... but crucially not too much of anything... makes this story flow really well. It's altogether a most enjoyable read, thoroughly recommended. (And I appreciate now being able to pronounce Ta' Xbiex, should anyone ask!)

That cover is certainly eye-catching! And the story inside doesn't disappoint. It keeps you wondering, and sympathetic to the characters all the way to the end.

Good fun - and some solid sense too! All those things we know we ought to do to keep fit not fat don't seem such an uphill struggle after reading it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Clearly a good read, 3 May 2014

Simply written, but full of ideas. Some nostalgic references (nothing wrong with that!) but the chief result of this book is to get the reader looking forward. Recommended.

These stories from Ginny Swart are not always predictable, just always enjoyable. It's the detail - whether about orchids, a ancient, battered kitchen table, or the way old singers never die - that draw you in and keep you reading. And the bad guys don't win too often, either! Perfect reading for whenever you have (or make) time to take a break. Looking forward to another collection soon...

...whether you plan to open a woolshop, or not! I'm simply a nosy sort of person who likes to imagine what it might be like, and even I enjoyed learning about it all very much. I enjoy knitting. It's is sociable, therapeutic and generally excellent exercise for the mind and the fingers, so find out all you can about it is my motto - especially when the book is as informative and easily digestible as this. Good luck to Three Bags Full and all who knit therein!

5.0 out of 5 stars Many kinds of love, 22 Nov 2013

This is another enjoyable romance by Sue Moorcroft - but I think it's also more than that. The portrayal of Lyddie, Tamara's brain-injured sister, and her relationships within her family, is moving, funny, truthful, poignant and generally adds to the sum of memorable characters I've found in her books. Of course, I enjoyed the romance as well! If you haven't read Sue's books yet, I'd recommend any of them, but perhaps this one most of all. For the moment...

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent read, 22 Nov 2013

I think sometimes it must be difficult to create a heroine such as Helena. She's clearly loving and intelligent, but also dutiful, which allows her (all too convincingly) to agree to marry Oliver and so feel she's doing the right thing. However, she is also anything but a weakling, fortunately for this story. I really got swept along by the telling of it, and would recommend it to anyone who loves a good tale with an excellent historical background and a satisfactory ending. More, please!
