5.0 out of 5 stars works really well, 24 Feb. 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
used this after a complaint about croydon council's crappy lighting, enabled me to highlight that if all street lights are 60lux, the one at 4 lux might be knackered, Skanska still tried arguing, but those guys are a kitkat short of a sandwich

This stuff is like Sunny Delight is to children, like liquid crack

I can't be totally sure, but I think my cat lost the plot completely, if he had opposable thumbs I' sure that little Catnip Stoner would have eaten all my cookies

Keep your dank kush in this and nobody will ever find it, ahem, I mean cookies, it keeps cookies really fresh
Then again, if you are reading this nonsense as a basis for deciding to buy this then you probably don't know the difference between cookies and cakes..... cookies go soft when stale, cakes go hard
So there you go, you came here for tips and learnt something useful, is there anything this cookie jar can't do?

The Gadget Show: The Shiny New Book
The Gadget Show: The Shiny New Book
by Jason Bradbury
Edition: Hardcover
Price: £16.54

3.0 out of 5 stars Better structured than the show, 28 Jan. 2016
It's not bad, but not great either.

If you want to be really happy with the book, imagine reading it in the format of the tv show...
If you expect every fifth page to be seventeen pages of competition prizes you can win, and every chapter to be a recap of the previous chapter like you have memory issues... Then you will be really pleasantly surprised with your purchase
I bought mine in a discount bookstore for a fifth of the RRP and have no intention of getting a refund on it, not just because I am lazy, well, ok, mostly

2.0 out of 5 stars Harness the power of the sun like a boss..... for about two hours, 9 Dec. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I bought this because after a number of break-ins in the \rea a bit of lighting the dark corners is always a sensible idea.
Very small and compact, look smart

After a full day in the sun and darkness currently appearing at 5pm, these seemed perfect. and they are...
Until about 8pm when the battery is flat, let alone 2am when the pikies are roaming the area.
If this took an external power feed it would be perfect, I am now looking to replace them with something mains backed up at least

Solar power will not be saving the planet any time soon, Don't get me wrong, I wasn't expecting a flood light, but I wasn't expecting to be feeling around in the dark like Stevie Wonder either

SCIENCE MUSEUM SM3555A THERMO CLOCK-Kits & Modules
SCIENCE MUSEUM SM3555A THERMO CLOCK-Kits & Modules

4.0 out of 5 stars How to Rotate Projection, 4 Nov. 2015
HOW TO ROTATE THE PROJECTION CLOCK (so it isn't upside down)

This takes a couple of minutes...
Using a flat knife or 1980's Butterfly knife if the mood takes you, lever off the black plastic front cover (it is held on with double sided tape)
Underneath there are five small screws
undo those screws and gently prize the silver section and black back section apart. I couldn't remove it completely but it went far enough to get fingers in there)

CHEAP COPY VERSION: The LCD Projector is held between silver plastic pins, literally free this oblong unit (be careful of the tape connector cable), rotate it 180 degrees, push it back into place, ensure the focus lens is over the end of it, then push the lid and back back together, tighten the five screws, put the cover back on, all done...

PROPER SCIENCE MUSEUM VERSION: After removing the black plastic front you will see six screws, undo these and the back actually comes off (unlike the cheap copy). The lcd projector is held in with hot glue, the circuit board is held with two further screws.
remove the two circuit-board screws (the ribbon cable doesn't have enough slack to rotate the lcd with it screwed down)...
Pop out the LCD Projector, pick the hardened glue off, rotate it 180 degrees and re-fit it the other way up, take care to ensure the lens is in place and rotates freely, the circuit-board goes in loose, refit the back, the circuit should obscure one of the screw holes, this is fine, put the other five screws back together and put the black front back in place.. It will now project the other way up..

Now for you killjoys, YES it will invalidate the warranty, even though to claim under the warranty you will have to post it to China which costs more than the unit did, so chill out, you saved a few quid over the Oregon Scientific, so this is what happens as a result. I went cheap, I learnt from it, do the same. It's not difficult is it, Chinese Children made it, so as an Adult you should be able to handle this simple bit of DIY shouldn't you? It's hardly a job for Batman

3.0 out of 5 stars As Low budget ghost hunting variants go, it's one of them, 2 Nov. 2015
This review is from: Ghost Adventures - Season 1 (DVD)
The tv is flooded with ghost related programs this year, this is one of them.
Amateur style filming with the host really hamming it up to the camera flexing his arms, just watched one episode where he told the viewer to reach through the television screen. A sprinkling of technology is featured, the host then gets themselves locked inside a building every episode, then usually the presenter calls the ghost out and shouts for a bit.
They use a bit of kit called an Ovilus 2 which is a box which any ghost from the 1800s with a grasp of future technology but no internet access and laptop can get it to speak a single word, which is enough for the team to take that as gospel and make another seven minutes out of it...
No joke, I just watched S4E27, the box said "Dig" so the presenter went off on one frantically asking where to dig, and then it said "Ground", which is very convenient, because I'm not sure if any of you have tried digging upwards into the sky, but you need a long ladder just for starters...

They record all the audio, which is sound enhanced and played back but you have to be told what words you are listening for, which isn't usually the most reliable, but with the presenter constantly shouting over the top of it who knows what it was, if anthing...

It's on Amazon for £20 but compared to other alternative Ghost Investigation programs, I half expect it to be in the bargain bin at the petrol station or Poundland by now, If you are looking for this program specifically, then this is the DVD for you, if you are just looking for this Genre then just watch many alternatives to it on Sky's H2 Channel.
If you are going to buy it, then you'll buy it anyway, but with all tv, youtube an episode first

4.0 out of 5 stars Protection?, 1 Oct. 2015
Says "Warning: This toy does not provide protection."
I assume that is protection from Rolf Harris?
