4.0 out of 5 stars Tin Man, 9 Jun 2009
This story is actually very engaging. Far more expansive In the way it deals with the nature of A.I. than any of the previous films, and considering they laid the foundation, that's no mean feat. The fact it's set in the War gave the writers free rein to start again and create their own time line. The notion that it lacks humanity and is souless, a common criticism in many of the negative reviews is ludicrous. The whole story is about the humanity of the Marcus character. The idea DNA trumps a mechanized system is at the 'heart' of the film. Maybe this goes over some peoples heads (like a moto-terminator).

To cast Terminator Salvation off as just another summer CGI feast is to ignore some of it's more subtle aspects. It shows quite effectively an actual military campaign against Skynet, I personally love where the resistance command network is located. A novel idea, seen as it's the one place Skynet would find hardest to track and locate, well up to a point. This War, the one thing most people had been waiting for is well presented and has a realism and believability lacking especially in the previous humor laced effort.

I feel some hardcore fans went in with their own preconceptions of the War. This movie didn't fulfill their fantasies of John Conner et al so they rejected it out of hand. That's a shame. With some stunning effects and set design with overall top draw production values, there's more here if you look a little.

A great science fiction war movie. Not just a parade of chase sequences and diet pepsi ads.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hometown Glory, 9 Jan 2008
This review is from: 19 (Audio CD)
Adele has a beautiful voice, which is showcased well on her debut album 19. Any fan of this lady will be familiar with some of the songs on here. The album opens with two favorites Daydreamer and Best For Last, both with their striped down quality intact. Some surprises though. The Bob Dylan cover Make You Feel My Love sounds Elton John circa 70's, it's a great example of a ballad done well. While Tired, a Cure like pop track is a jumpy contemporary chart hit, if I ever heard one. Adele's Mark Ronson collaboration Cold Shoulder, a raw string filled 007 charm.

As for the rest, well they're just Adele doing what she does best, brilliant jazz tinged soul with a contemporary edge. And there's not many singers around who can match her standard.

Then there's Hometown Glory.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Voice., 2 Jan 2008

Another brilliant London based singer comes our way and she's only 19. Adele's amazing vocals complement this track perfectly, reminiscent of Dusty Springfield and Amy Winehouse.

Adele is definitely going places.

2.0 out of 5 stars Global Warming rhetoric, 11 Dec 2007
For the last 3 weeks this show has started well, but then descends into a predictable lecture on the effects of Co2 in the atmosphere. One show demonstrating the connection with Human activity and the planets temperature would suffice. Instead every week we're shown a series of natural wonders and then inevitably presented with reason why man will ruin it all. It gets tiresome and smacks of propaganda. It seems incredible that every episode repeats this same message.

Why does every natural history program made now, have to be laced with Greenpeace rhetoric and highly debatable science, presented as fact. It would be fine if the public wasn't already deluged with this information from every angle in the media.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not For Star Whingers, 6 Nov 2007
We all know one. Your watching the prequels and they just can't keep their opinions to themselves, spoil the fun.

Classic Star Whinger quotes.

"They're nowhere near as good as the first films"

"The acting is wooden"

"It's all CGI"

All true to a degree, but spoil the fun for the younger generation. Just shove off granddad if your not into them. This last one in the series is brilliant I'd recommend it to anyone, even the grumpy old sods who saw Star Wars in 77 as I did.

If you've owned this consoles predecessor you'll know all about the reliability of these things. The same giant brick transformer, the same turbo jet wannabe cooling system, the same boards that overheat. This is just a Microsoft smoke screen.

A console made by the same company that's currently a billion down for repairs on the last model.

No thanks.

5.0 out of 5 stars Students?, 8 July 2007
Interesting to see the opinions of 'students' in these reviews seemingly contradict the research of the 10 professors in this film. Maybe we should all learn our chosen discipline from them, they seem to have all the answers.

Seriously, this film offers a degree of balanced to a debate that has for too long been dominated by the eco evangelist elite, and their seemingly endless whinging about the state of the planet.

Read Bjorn Lomborg to get a more sane balanced opinion on the subject.

1.0 out of 5 stars Ring of Fire, 19 Jun 2007
= Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
Quite a strange phenomena in retail has come about through the sale of these faulty consoles. People are writing reviews for them and saying that they think the Xbox360 is great "but" they've owned a few because they keep breaking down, or are faulty and crash alot.

What? how can something be great if you pay good money for it and then the said product doesn't work properly? That's like saying my new glasses are good but the lenses keep falling out, or my new Ford is the business but it keeps breaking down at Romford turnpike.

Micosoft must be laughing all the way to the bank, they've taken us all for mugs, and you know what they might just be right.
