So, where do I begin... I know, I must tell you that I am a huge... HUUUUUGE fan of Mike Scott and The Waterboys, but, please don't judge me as being biased with this review. Whether you know these songs or not if you do, you'll know what I mean even more), you will just love the excitement and wonderment that these recordings will bring. They are just sublime. The musicianship is excellent, but it just sounds like they are having so much fun, and Mike is having just as much fun singing along. Great songs. Great tunes and a must have CD. Some things cost a little more in life, but then you shouldn't put a price on contentment and well-being. Buy and enjoy.

As you may have heard already... Mr. Hawley has made a "different" album this time.

"How different?"... well let's say that Mr. Hawley has "taken a vacation" from his normal offerings, in so much as his beautifully orchestrated ballads of love and despair, and has only gone and ventured to turn the bloomin' guitar, bass and drum amp's volume to 11, which has inadvertently toppled the personally precious statuette from off the top of my left Floor-Stander... not only has he shattered my 6 inch porcelain Fender Stratocaster with arms and legs... but also the illusion that Sir Richard of Hawley was a one trick pony, albeit, his trick was to release delicious sweet aural pony time after time, raising the bar with each offering. Well, diversity is the breath of life, and he has raised the bar to out-of reach. Will it be a classic in time? Time starts now. I think it's just the most enormous equine.

I could go through each song here, as others are prone to do in their reviews, but I wont... not because I'm lazy, but because I'm just staggered at the total wonderment of the album in it's completeness and entirety... it rises and soars and pounds, and swoops and delivers in varied lumps of Kerrang, of Twang and of Jingly-Jang, of Sub-sub bass, and then slivers of strum and glide whilst all the time retaining a composure and accuracy and meaning of total harmonious visions that to single any track out, would give the track before and after a disservice. I guess you will inevitably find a favourite song... but when your favourite song finishes you will be humming the opening chords of the next.

So what we have, or at least what I have found, is an album of boldness, of big-balled bass, of riffs and guitar solo's, layer upon layer each instrument clear and direct and old mates with each other, an album of delicate emotion, of aural velvet, a tranquil float on the unrippled sea of love... it's 60's "get-the-girl, it's 70's rock, it's 80's guitar band, it's 00's production (can feedback be a delicate, glorious thing?) it's as modern and right now as the best that history can be...with delicate touch and feeling. An album of rock, of beauty; angry and angelic in equal amounts of solid or fluid, all united with a continuous dollop of beautifully orchestrated ballads of love and despair.

Is there a better voice around to hear from any music speaker? I. me, my opinion, is that the album is phenomenal. There's a Storm Coming... and Richard Hawley is Thor, Zeus and Mr. Aphrodite.

Does exactly what it says on the tin...inobtrusive and comfortable. You would buy this if you run for fun or exercise. It does what you want it too.
