The English: A Social History, 1066-1945 (Paladin Books)
by Christopher Hibbert
Edition: Paperback

4.0 out of 5 stars The English ; A Social History, 10 Mar 2013

A very readable and enjoyable journey into the "everyday lives" of the great and ordinary from medieval to after WW2. My knowledge of history doesn't allow me to know if people in the 12th C actually loved food colourings, baked tarts and sea fish as opposed to fresh water ( it doesn't cite primary or secondary sources) but isn't it a great thing to read !

A very plain cover, no fancy wrappings but the music is really good - Video killed the Radio Star and other under rated stuff from the 70's. Picture quality is good, so def would recommend if you are a collector of retro music dvd's.

3.0 out of 5 stars Kristina Train, 10 Mar 2013

This review is from: Spilt Milk (Audio CD)
I bought this on the back of Kristina's Dark Black album, which is incredibly beautiful. Spilt Milk is ok, as she is too good to sing anything badly, but the songs aren't as good and you get the impression, compared with DB, she was still finding her niche. For the dedicated.

A History of the English Language
A History of the English Language
by Thomas Cable
Edition: Paperback

4.0 out of 5 stars Review of book history of English Language, 11 Feb 2011
Well informed, sometimes overly technical, account of the history of English language. In saying that, if you are anyway towards being an expert then you'll find this book excellent. Not one for the person who wants an introduction but fascinating none the less.
