5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful book, 19 Dec 2011
I absolutely love this book!
It is so beautiful.

There's a lot of pictures and paintings, printed on big pages, most of them full size (little larger than A4 paper size). Exceptionally good reconstructions of our ancestors, even paintings of their organization in the landscape. Very good descriptions to accompany the pictures and paintings. Easy to read.

Everyone with just a little interest in how we evolved should buy this book. Even children would love to look at the pictures and it is so easy to read that older children can read it alone.

With a background in biology and a special interest in human evolution, I still find this book special. It is the perfect book to supply all the academic textbooks that is lacking what this book has - pictures and paintings! :)

3.0 out of 5 stars Good ideas, but not enough references, 15 Dec 2011
The writer has a lot of good ideas, but there's not enough references. It is well written and entertaining to read, but you cannot call it an overview of the evolution of the dog, because the writer is guessing what happened. I was very dissapointed about the academic presence of the book, the writer is not able to strengthen his hypotheses. It's a shame, because I actually think he has got it right. Instead it is just a discussion about how the dog could have arisen.

You can choose to read it to get a point of view about how the evolution of the dog could have occured.

I miss paintings or pictures, there's absolutely no illustrations!

5.0 out of 5 stars Well written overview of human evolution, 15 Dec 2011
The book is very clear written and gives a detailed overview of the history of human evolution. There's a lot of good histories about the discoveries of the fossils - it's an entertaining book. The illustrations are good and easy to cope with. I have used the book in a course in human evolution and my professor find the book the best on the market.

Everyone can read the book, also without an academic ecudation. It is fun to read and explains human evolution very well.
