5.0 out of 5 stars A Cult following awaits..., 1 Mar. 2007

Ok to put this simply...this is likely the best metal band you'll never hear. If you're lucky enough to do so though, Threat Signal are the best metal act around.

Kyle McKnight is as technically sound a guitarist as ever there has been one and Jon Howard's lungs could match any in metal, surpassing Howard Jones by far, and that saying something. What Threat Signal do better than any other band is combining melody and metal (a cliche i know) but where some bands have mastered this (Bullet, Killswitch, Machine Head) Threat Signal have PERFECTED it.

They are as far away from the mainstream as you could possibly find, and if you catch them on TV you will be lucky as seeing the Northern Lights on the same day you win the lottery. Despite this, it makes the possibility of them moving to a more demanding record label and for that I'm grinning rather happily that its unlikely the quality of music will stay as high as I've ever heard.

The best thing about TS is simply and obviously the songs. Opener Rational Eyes sets the tone combining a pummelling riff with a chorus so melodic it borders on a hook for the length of time it plays havoc in you're head. The standouts are Seeing Red for THE MOST euphoric ending ive EVER heard to a song. One Last Breath is brutal, Counterbalance is so epic it wouldn't be out of place on Master of Puppets and When All is Said and Done has a Pantera vibe that has your lips well and truly moist to cap the album off.

Whats disappointingly predictable is that due to (unfortunately) their sound being reminiscent of roughly seven bands (off the top of my head) they are unlikely to leap to fame or noteriety. Do not let that put you off though, Threat Signal are the brightest thing in Metal at the moment, with the talent, musicianship and songs to occupy a permanent place in ur CD player. Oh yeah, album of 2006 btw

5.0 out of 5 stars paraMORE hell yeah!, 23 Aug. 2006

Ok, so they're gonna be compared to every other emo band around at the moment but Paramore are probably the cream of the crop, and having a gorgeous lead singer goes a long way :-)

Hayley Williams is an absolute goddess, writing emotive, catchy lyrics with a pretty darn good (avril sounding like voice...its actually a good thing). Also, having some rather talented bandmates helps aswell. The Zacco...Zaffo....well the brothers in the band got a Pantera style relationship going on, and despite a small contrast in sounds *ahem* its the kind of partnership that could keep Paramore together and on top for years.

In fairness there aren't many stand out songs because every song is honestly awesome (aside from franklin...yeah bit of a mistake there) but Emergency and Conspiracy are particularly amazing. Basicly there's something in Paramore for everyone and by the end of the album *que lame joke* ull be wanting paraMORE.....anyway buy the album hehe.

It's early 2006, the rock scene is in a state of flux, thank god i discovered glassjaw. Id heard about them for the last few years but never really gave them a chance, but then i heard "cosmopolitan blood loss" on scuzz and i was hooked. for those who havent heard these gods, they sound like a hybrid between finch and taking back sunday, with this album inparticular still, six years on, showing all the longevity to make it a classic for years to come. daryl's vocals are unique, amazing brutality combined with effortless emotion that pours through you. Every song has its good points but my faves are "pretty lush", "piano" and "hurting and shoving" just because they all contain such raw, naked powerful sounds that simply can't be matched. six years on, the band have gone through more changes than many, however this album will forever be a classic example of how to make a perfect record.

After hearing this I was officially a Linkin Park FREAK and felt honoured bragging them up to friends and family
Papercut - 10/10 Insanely fantastic lyrics and riffs
One Step Closer - 8/10 So catchy and aggressive with (at the time) the most original bridge around
With You - 5/10 Kinda average but still better then any rnb song
Points of Authority - 8/10 - Amazing intro with brilliant riff
Crawling - 8/10 The song that made me buy the album. Nuff said
Runaway - 5/10 Im not keen on it
By Myself - 8/10 Classic intro with great chorus. Chester rocks on this song!
In The End 7/10 - Seriously grows on u
Place 4 My Head - 8/10 Way underrated brilliant bridge and the ReAnimation remix is one the best sounds from any LP song
Forgotten - 7/10 Great verses but repetetion of pre-chorus is kinda annoying
Cure 4 The Itch - 6.5/10 - Very original and lets Joe Hahn work his magic
Pushing Me Away - 8/10 Brilliat finale to the kick ass album of 2000/2001.
Fantastic album that still sells 4 years on. Could not recommend it more. Buy now!

2.0 out of 5 stars Jason X-Tremely Stupid!, 18 Aug. 2003
This review is from: Jason X [VHS] [2002] (VHS Tape)
I haven't seen many horror films but this was just laughable. Unlike the classic series of Elm Streets and Friday the 13th, this is much unlike its predecessors and instead of scaring you, bores you with gory deaths, not scary, and characters you know will die and want them too much quicker than they do. The two stars is for Jason, his character actually gains some sympathy, wierdly and watching him kill the cast one-by-one in many gruesome ways is the saving feature. There's on hilarious bit with Virtual Strippers aswell. I really dont advise watching this though.

4.0 out of 5 stars DOUBLE JEOPARDY!!!!!!, 15 Dec. 2002
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
NTR 2000 isnt that great but the main event is excellent!
1) Simon Diamond/Swinger vs. York/Matthews
Not that good : 5/10
2) CW Anderson vs Kid Kash
Kash is awesome and CW finally performs decently. 7/10
3) Nova vs Chris Chetti
This was a LOSER LEAVES ECW MATCH and both men go wild on each other. 8/10
4) Balls Mahoney/Chilil Willy vs Da Baldies
This was the worst FLAMING TABLES MATCH ever! It could've been awesome but was a short finish and ...brawl throughout. 5.5/10
5) New Jack vs Rhyno
TV TITLE MATCH that is off the charts violent. Annoying music throughout though...! Good anyway though. 7.5/10
6) FBI vs Tajiri/Whipwreck
TAG TITLES are on the line and it is a hardcore heaven match until Mikey gets injured. The match carries on though as Tajiri gets an unlikely substition. Naff ending but QUALITY moves all around. The FBI could've got killed so easily!! 8/10
7) Sandman vs Steve Corino/Jerry Lynn vs Justin credible
FIRST EVER DOUBLE JEOPARDY MATCH. These two matches occur at the same time in the same ring and the winners meet for the ECW TITLE after. Insane HARDCORE match with lots of blood, weapons, interference and chaos that crowns a NEW CHAMPION! 9/10
Because of the music and match endings this didnt get 5 stars but is still an excellent PPV anyway.
