4.0 out of 5 stars A Pleasant Surprise, 9 Jan 2014

This review is from: Best Of (Audio CD)
I'm a big fan of actor Kevin Costner, although the latest movies are not up to the classics.
I knew for years that he liked to play, especially rock and country songs.
This collection embodies the essence of the singer and actor Kevin: a pleasant surprise.
Some little gems such as "The Angels came down" "The Way You Love Me" are printed in the mind.
Excellent support musicians the Modern West.
I recommend it to those who love the classic country western

5.0 out of 5 stars Like the title ... Mythology ... The Legend Lives Again, 16 April 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Mythology (Audio CD)
Curated and produced by Barry and Robin Gibb, MYTHOLOGY contains four discs, each spotlighting a different Gibb brother, including one dedicated to Andy, who was not part of the group.

MYTHOLOGY also features a little book of family photos (fans's gift I believe) , many never-before published, along with tributes from artists such as George Martin, Brian Wilson, Elton John, Graham Nash and the band's longtime manager Robert Stigwood. Spanning the Bee Gees' five-decade career, the set's 81 tracks touch on several of the group's best-known hits.

But mainly, the collection digs into the Bee Gees' vast catalog to highlight deep tracks such as the early single "Spicks And Specks" (1966); the title track from the 1969 concept album Odessa; the single B-side "Country Woman" (1971); "Spirits Having Flown" (1979) the title track from the 35-million selling album; "Overnight" (1987) from the multi-platinum ESP; "Closer Than Close" (1997) from Still Waters; and "Man In The Middle" (2001) from the Bee Gees 20th and final studio album before Maurice's passing in 2003.

MYTHOLOGY also features the debut of a pair of previously unreleased Maurice Gibb tracks - "Angel Of Mercy" and "The Bridge."

The final disc spotlights Andy Gibb, who was not a member of Bee Gees, but worked with his older brothers throughout his career before his death in 1988 at the age of 30: too young for die.

Very very beautiful this collection.
A collection recommended to lovers of good music to relive or discover one of the legends of music in 5 decades.

4.0 out of 5 stars A blast from the past (Legendary Bee Gees), 16 April 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is a brand new collection of songs highlighting the legacy left by the one and only Bee Gees.
This new release chronicles the Bee Gees' early recording days in Australia with the first THREE ALBUMS of Legendary Bee Gees.
The remastering is noticeably better on all thirty-eight (38) songs than on any previous release, which is only befitting (particularly in Mono). Treating this collection as three individual CD's representing each album is true to the original form and a very important piece of music history is preserved. Each album is faithfully reproduced both front and back with the original type and photos.
Highlights of this collection are, 'Claustrophobia', 'Wine And Women' and 'I Was A Lover, A Leader Of Men' from 'The Bee Gees Sing & Play 14 Barry Gibb Songs'. From 'Spicks And Specks'; there is the title track single, 'Monday's Rain' (original version), 'How Many Birds' and 'Playdown' (a recent concert favorite from Barry). 'Turn Around, Look At Us' contains the famous Robin sung B-Side, 'I Am The World', 'Cherry Red' and 'The Battle of the Blue and the Grey'.
A (wonderfull) blast form the past ... The Legend lives again !

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent job but not up, 16 April 2013

This review is from: Secret Agent (Audio CD)
Secret Agent is the third solo album by the British singer-songwriter Robin Gibb by Legendary Bee Gees.
The album followed on from "How Old Are You?" the previous year with Robin's twin brother Maurice again co-writing and playing keyboards but does not reach the magic of "Juliet" although the song "Boys do fall in love" gives some emotion.

3.0 out of 5 stars A Little Jewel, 16 April 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
"Hawks" is the soundtrack album for the film Hawks: all of the songs performed by British singer-songwriter Barry Gibb, a legendary leader of Bee Gees.
All of the songs were written and recorded by Barry. A small gem unknown to most people (as well as the film) with various instrumental tracks "Celebration De La Vie" and some fantastic songs atmosphere like "Childhood days".
A Little Jewel to Discover.

4.0 out of 5 stars A TOUCH OF EMOTIONS, 16 April 2013

I love Mark Knopfler, ever since I heard him for the first time in 1979 with the legendary Dire Straits. Then it was an idol with the guitar, today is magnificent, despite the years, has a magic touch, sublime: he gives emotions.
From great guitarist has now become a great musician and the music is really great that ranges from Irish ballads to American folk, blues, New Orleans.
A great double CD. The sound and voice are, as usual, of exalted level. The guitar technique of Mark is not discussed: the first listen the songs go a bit 'unnoticed, while riascoltandole in the following days we understand that all are catchy and enjoyable.
A large disc folk / country.

4.0 out of 5 stars THE SPANDS : DREAMING 80'S, 4 Jun 2012

" I do not know how to play, are well-dressed dolls that are stirred up in time to music, make mundane and pointless songs ... do not understand what we find girls screaming ... "
This is what many music critics wrote about Spandau Ballet in the '80s. Perhaps someone today, it is a bit 'regret the vitriol thrown on without saving "Spands" or to their fellow successful Duran Duran and Wham!. It comes from wondering.

We hope that our generation is not arrogance, especially because of this it was, more than twenty years ago - music critics would probably be killed in 30 years, before they begin to say that "time is all already heard" !!
But listening to "I'll fly for you" or "Gold" is even some inspiration, or at least consistency in style, because it really is "Gold" abysmal compared to the banality that characterizes the current British pop.

This is not to say that Spandau Ballet were Great: the little we have made good, they did in the wake of the latest records of Roxy Music, from which also took some vaguely art-rock pretensions.

Certainly, their songs were less ambitiously pop-art of those opponents of Duran Duran. But in their small, the brothers Kemp and his associates were able to make commercial music and dignified at the same time not denying some creative foray as "Musclebound" or "Chant No.1". There's even a touch of class in songs like "Only When You Leave" and "Communication", while it is hard not to have at least a brief thrill listening to the poignant "Through the barricades", also present in another album.

How not to get caught up in nostalgia for Kemp, Hadley & co. The Spandau Ballet : Dreaming the 80's Forever !!!
